The sound on my hdtv for hd channels has always been working, but now it doesn't. It works perfectly for regular channels though. The sound for hd channels only works when its coming from my av receiver. Anyone know how to fix this? thanks

I'm using an antennae for my programming. I'm not saying the sound isn't coming out the receiver. I mean that it's not coming out of the internal tv speakers, so I dont think theres anything wrong with the cables.

Check the audio options on your TV.
Looks like you also connected digital out from the TV to the receiver. For digital channels, the audio is DD so it passes through directly to the AVR.

Most TVs will decode 2-ch audio and pass through DD, but perhaps your TV has a special option.

Simple fix: Unplug and re-autoprogram the receiver if necessary unless you have changed the way that the audio goes through the system (re-wiring before this problem occured).

You have too many variables here that you don't state:

Type of connection = HDMI or Component?

HDMI has audio as part of it - could need to be reconnected

HDMI may need to reinitialize - common flaw

Component connection - You forgot the audio cables to the set but you did connect them to the other device which has audio

Receiver has "locked up" loosing audio because it was receiving a really poor signal either originating from one transmitter whose Studio to Transmitter link was failing in bad weather or do to poor reception at your home also due to bad weather -- Welcome to HD and digital TV - It is not as easy to receive as analog

You probably did not subscribe to them. I wonder what and HD channel would look like on an HD TV, lol.

Is their any chance it's a Samsung LCD? I heard that for a particular model of theirs this occasionally happens.
