It is widely accepted by secular history that Nero was refered to as the Anti-Christ, and his name was called 666.

Read the information on these websites and tell me what you think.

I'm not trying to say that 70 AD is when it happened, just trying to research and get opinions.

Thank you all.

The Anti Christ has a specific mission. Many 'antichrist's ' have existed and will exist. THE Antichrist will come during a specific time yet to occur. Revelation tells us a great deal about this individual, as does Daniel, 1 Thessalonians, and the Gospels. (Matthew 24&25) I have written a six part series on the subject, and the study of it can be very exciting. Nero was in fact an antichrist, but certainly could never quality as THE antichrist.

The interesting thing is that the Antichrist is still around...it is not just any one individual...it is a position held by a person, through several centuries...since the time of Constantine or thereabout. The person wearing a specific hat has those numbers on it in Roman numerals. That person has always been a man to this century so far. He is described as changing seasons and times, making traditions more important than God's Laws. Many Christians pay homage to the Antichrist by keeping those traditions to this day.
He would speak blasphemous things against the Most High God, and assumes an image of piety.

Nero was not the anti christ but he definitely had the qualifications, As Jesus said when the Gospel is preached thru out the whole world then will the end come. We are just now in every country in the world and their are still alot of people who have not heard of Jesus. But with the technology to day it will not take long to get it out. Of course we must also remember that in hebrews 10:16, Jesus said he wrote his laws in our hearts and minds so that could say that every body already knows that there is a God as I do believe in that. They may not know the name but I believe everyone knows that there is a God that is why we have a conscious and it bothers us when we sin. I believe the Rapture is coming, even at the door, Come quickly Lord Jesus Come quickly.

Whatever the author of Revelation was thinking as he was writing is obviously open for speculation...a large number of scholars believe the imagery in the book was aimed at the anti-Christian powers in Rome at the time, and the book itself was an urgent call for Christians to hold fast and to have faith that God would deliver them in the end (the ultimate triumph of good over evil is the major theme that runs through the entire book). The Church was still very young at that point, and the writer had real reason to fear its extinction at such a tenuous stage in its history. The problem is, many people also assume even today that the book is one of prophecy, and look for every little sign that the end of the world is near...everything from natural disasters to leaps in technology to world wars have been seen as "signs of the apocalypse".

Hello, Jesky:

The groups, like JW's, who try and say Nero was Antichrist have an agenda to promote, and none are real prophets or have ascended into the third heaven. They want to make all the prophecies of Antichrist fulfilled so they can say the next thing in prophetic timetables is for Jesus to come.

Actually, all reputable scholars place the book of Revelation and its statements as being written after Nero, in AD93.

Satan is behind these movements because He must come, sitting in the temple of God, showing himself to be God, with all signs and wonders (2 Thessalonians 2...).

At the time of Christ, the church did not recognize their Messiah and killed Him. Likewise, almost every denomination misunderstand coming events, and will proclaim Satan as our Savior, and that will occur when we need one.

God has an answer, and sealed it in the only part of the Bible that says "these words are sealed and closed until the end of the days." That code will identify the major problems facing us in the near future. See http://abiblecode.tripod.com

Shalom, peace in Jesus, Ben Yeshua

The Antichrist is supposed to be a religious leader with civil authority...not a civil authority alone. The Antichrist has the most power when Church and State are married to each other...Satan loves to force people and control people...and when he can do it in the religious as well as the governmental arenas, the more powerful he is. Thank God we still have freedom to believe according to our conscience in the US...according to prophecy this will be in jeopardy.

It certainly is not widely accepted -
He was not the Anti-Christ - the Anti-Christ of the Bible has not arrived yet. Read the Book of Revelation - the last book of the Bible - it defines the end times and the Anti-Christ.
The same could be said of Stalin, Hitler... the situation with the Anti-Christ will have a set of circumstances that will be revealed according to the Book of Revelation, and that has not happened yet.

No, Nero was not Anti-christ. That is preterist lies from the Roman Catholic church trying to misdirect. www.1335.com check out their online audio tape library under the preterism theme. THey tell you about it.

Anti-Messiah are those that DENY Yahshua came in the flesh blood and nature of Abraham's genetic seed line. This manifests in many doctrines and one of the most widely accepted doctrines, thus indentifying the adherents and Anti-Messiahs, is the VIRGIN-BIRTH.

2Jo 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Yahshua Messiah is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antimessiah.

1Jo 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Yahshua Messiah is come in the flesh is not of Yahweh: and this is that [spirit] of antimessiah, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

1Jo 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antimessiah shall come, even now are there many antimessiahs; whereby we know that it is the last time.

False Spirits bring forth FALSE DOCTRINE.

Heb 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
Heb 2:15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
Heb 2:16 For verily he took not on [him the nature of] angels; but he took on [him] the seed of Abraham.

Yahshua had the FLESH BLOOD and NATURE of Abraham's genetic seedline. This can not happen with a virgin birth. Nor does it allow for him to be sinless before his conversion.

2Sa 7:14 I will be his father, and he shall be my son. When he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:
This passage is quoted in Heb.1 as applied to Messiah.
In Hebrews 7:27 we find the strips he speaks of also...
Heb 7:27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.
The strips Yahshua received were to atone first for his own sins, and THEN he atoned for the sins of the people with his death.
The sinless life began AT HIS BAPTISM where he was born of the virgin Spirit of Yahweh. And THIS was the sign John was looking for as to who the Messiah was... not some story about a virgin born person... that comes out of paganism,,,, tammuz and the like.

Regardless, you would also be wise to study HISTORICISM, as it the eschatological position of ALL reformers.

Yes, the 666 reference is indeed a reference to Nero. Revelation is a story about the past, not the future.

He does not fit the Biblical profile. So he does not qualify. It is easy to understand how people of the time might even have thought he was the Anti-Christ. He was horrible.
