It helps to get measured, but even so not all brands fit the same. Your best bet is to just try bras on before you buy them. Also, if you're going up a cup size it's usually a good idea to go down a band size, and vice versa, especially if your current size is just slightly too big/small. Try a 32B or a 36A.

It's a great idea to get your bra size properly measured at least once a year. Many lingerie stores do it (for free).
Also, keep in mind that a 34A in one brand or style may fit differently than another. Always try on different brands before you buy a bra. (Tedious sometimes but well worth it!).
Your breasts should fit inside the cups with no bulging or discomfort and the "height" of your breasts (if the bra is sitting properly) is so that your breasts are in the middle between your elbow and shoulder. The band should fit flat across your back. Try lifting your hands up and jiggling around to make sure the bra doesn't ride up or anything like that.
A good bra feels great on and you shouldn't feel like you're wearing it.

you'll know if your bra fits if. . .
(1) the band is a little snug - remember, the majority of support comes from the band, not the straps. It should be snug (but breathable) on the middle setting. it should fit relatively low and tight on your back beneath your shoulder blades. if it rides up -or if you can fit more than 2 fingers between the band and your body, it is too large.
(2) RAISE YOUR ARMS -when you lift your arms up, make sure you don't "fall out' of the bottom of the cups, not even a little (if so -the cup size is too small). if the band moves - the band size is too big.
(3) STAND STRAIGHT, ARMS AT SIDES: make sure you don't have any overhang at the top of the cups (or you'll get the dreaded 4-boob look under knits, not nice). Got overhang? well, then your cup size is too small
(4) Also, make sure there are no wrinkles or gaps in the cups themselves (got wrinkles or gaps? your cup size is too big)
(5) SIT DOWN: last but not least, to test your underwire, sit down when trying on a bra. make sure your bra isn't pulling away from your body -the cups should be secure against the breasts with the center of the underwire flush against the cleavage area.
(6) BEST ADVICE- get a fitting :) any large department store or lingerie shop will have professional bra fitters

if the bra and your breast doesnt have a gap in between when your getting something or even walk that makes the bra scooch up. so its either best to buy a bra that is one size lower. and see if that works. there are some place you can try bras on, but im not sure if round your area it does. normally if the bra doesnt fit, the adjusting on the straps doesnt help at all. thats all the details i know, as i have trouble with bras aswell.

Go to a specialty store and get properly sized for the bra that will fit you right.
There is no such thing as a perfect bra. Live with it.

the bra should be directly in the middle of your forearm and the straps should not be pulling, your outter breast should not be popping out. go to your nearest victoria's secret store to get remeasured if your bra is not properly fitting, believe me I was unsure about mine until i got a bigger size, dont worry about them measuring you either, because they literally do it at the door, and it takes 10 seconds
