I don't want the title to be in columns, but I want the stuff under it to be. How can I do this? When I do columns it formats the entire page, not just the section I want.

Both the answers do not work. I want more than just the title without columns. I have text in the middle of the page. Also, when you select text it formats the whole page. Anyone else have any ideas?

Select the text then do change to colums. Do not select the title when you do it.

When you open a blank file, it is actually one column. Type that section.
Enter.
In Word, you would Insert Break, then click Continuous.
You would format the columns in this new section.

I don't have Works but I can offer you a tutorial. It might be there.

I dont have Word but on the toolbar isnt there a column feature, or in the paragraph menu there is a feature where you can set any number of columns. 6 picas = 1 inch in newspaper columns

Use either Publisher or Adobe InDesign for doing a newspaper layout. Word is only suited for text and Word documents it is not designed as a page layout application.

InDesign and Quark are best suited at page layout.
