they don't really want to hear the answers?
So many times I've answered questions from Christians in a clear way, telling exactly what the JEWISH position is (which is what the questioner ASKED for!--)...
but then the 'best answer' is awarded to a Christian, who has no idea what Jews believe and who simply agrees with whatever opinion the asker had.
This isn't true of all Christian askers, but a majority of them are like this.
So I'm asking why you 'use' your questions--not to get honest answers, but to just re-assert your own point of view?
BTW--I welcome answers from everyone, but I'm going to give the best answer to a Christian--because that's who I'm asking.

edit: Meister, I'm giving the answers to Christians because THEY'RE THE GROUP I'M ASKING. i object to the practice of asking facetiously asking one group and then giving it to another, to put forth an agenda.
My only agenda here is to actually hear what CHRISTIANS have to say about this. I'm not a hypocrite. Try to keep up.

edit: Sweet P, please don't post this stuff as an answer to one of my questions again. I've heard it before, ad naseum--and my question was not "Why doen't some Christian come and proselytize me?" Honestly, it gets so old. Quoting from old questions doesn't lend to your charm, either.

I think it is because most Christians are so passionate about their beliefs that they want to prove to you that they are right. I don't think most of them realize that they are doing it. They want you to realize that they are right and change your mind! I am christian, but I think everyone has a right to their own beliefs, I apologize for all of the Christians out their who have tried to get you to change your beliefs!

Israel was once established to be the place of origin for Jews considering they have been persecuted in close to each and every different land they attempted to reside in, culminating within the Holocaust throughout World War II. Israel was once at the start the Jews place of origin, however then the Romans (a western energy) pressured them to resettle throughtout their empire to be able to cut back the possibilities of uprising. After World War II, the US and British (extra western powers) made up our minds to undo this travesty through reforming the modern day day country of Isreal, the land having been a British colony earlier than and throughout the warfare. I am a Christian, and I do not do not forget Palestinians terrorists and Israelis sufferers. It is seen that within the conflicts among the 2 organizations of men and women that the Palestinians are those who're victimized so much, which makes me surprise why they're so keen to boost conflicts. Personally, I feel each organizations are in charge considering they each look to decide upon to die than lose face for the sake of peace. As a Christian, I feel it's primary to forgive, and neither the Palestinians nor the Israelis look purpose on forgiving the opposite.

It's just typical of R&S. I don't know why people do it.
I'm studying Judaism currently (again, I studied it briefly a few years ago), and learning Hebrew...but I have a long way to go before I can answer for Jews, lol.
People do it to Christians, too, and to atheists. A religious person will ask atheists about something, and then reward best answer to a religious person. Or an atheist will ask a question of Christians, and reward best answer to an atheist.
I think it's silly.

This could be said of alot of people on here..as a Christian, I've answered questions from atheists who really only wanted other atheists to back up their viewpoint and I got thumbed down..even though I had an honest answer..
People just want to know that others think like them..best not to answer those questions then.

You're right. Many here in R&S use this Q&A platform only to re-assert their own points of view -- regardless how far from the real truth they may be.
Same thing goes for those who scan through responses only to give their thumbs down with their closed minds.
Peace be with you.

Christians simply cannot argue with Jews and win...not about religion. This is the one reason why most Christians secretly resent us...because we can poke holes in their beliefs anytime we want.
As to your question...they probably don't listen for one or two reasons: (a) they were hoping you couldn't answer - which would give them an excuse to try and convince you to become a "completed Jew", or (b) they couldn't face reality.
As a Jew, I see this all the time as well. So be it.

I think Christians use the Messiah Idea as their block. Because Christians believe in Christ as their messiah and Jews do not, It puts immediate road blocks up for Christians, who strongly believe in Christ. and historically want everyone to believe they are right.

i have no idea. i'm a christian/protestant and i realise most people of abrahamic religions do the same. my muslim, catholic, and jewish friends all do that to me and to the others eg., muslims to catholics, jewish to muslims, catholics to muslims, jewish to christians, christians to catholics blah blah blah blah blah. the reason they/we all do that is because of the huge similarity of our religions, so it ends up all of us tries to keep proving the other wrong and claim that one of ours is the "right" religion. you know?
but personally i have no problem with the \other abrahamic religions because we all believe in one God - just as long as they don't start preaching. i don't want to preach to them and i don't want them to preach to me. so i usually avoid talking about religion with them.
over here in singapore nobody talks about religion cuz it's a sensitive topic...muslims, christians, catholics and jews get along with each other very well...but if someone brings the topic of religion into the conversation we usually tell that someone to shut up. C:

Many people do that, Christians and Non-Christians alike. Atheists do it all the time. But, I agree that not everybody does that. I'm a Christian, and I don't "bait" people with rude questions just to get them riled up.

They do it when they ask questions of Atheists, too.
Honestly, I think the main motivation for ANYTHING some Christians do is simply reassurance of their own point of view.
