higher power or to enhance the lives of the people they are trying to convince. I can't see any personal motivation for doing so. Atheist to are equally outspoken about their own veiws and in this forum are often insulting when doing so (at least in this forum) . What motivates atheists? If they are right and there is no higher power will the world be a better place by knowing it? What about individuals who rely on strength derived from spiritual practice.

So often innocent question offend. I apologize in advance

Religious people are not here to do everyone else a service as you claim, but rather, are here for the same reason atheists are here; to test their position. Most people don't even realize that's what they are doing.

I think some evangelical Christians truly mean no harm in their attempts to "save" others. They really can't see what they are doing wrong. I believe their motives are pure.

There are atheists who truly feel that they want to "save" religious people from what they think is a delusion. Their motives are pure.

Then there are atheists who only post to mock and ridicule believers. Their motives are cruel. Thye post only to get Christians riled up. When any Christian gets defensive, they cry, "Turn the other cheek! Be silent!" Or...they accuse the Christian of being judgemental, hypocritical, etc.

You can't see any personal motivation for televangelists? You think they are all out there trying to "help" people? I guess you haven't seen the mansions they live in, the jets they fly around in, and the luxury cars they drive. And, to refer back to an earlier question, those behemoth churches you see everywhere weren't built by phantoms. It's all about the money. Cash. Greenbacks. That is the motivation. I see no financial motivation for atheists.. they aren't building churches or padding their pockets by deceiving anyone.

if atheists are right, then they are saving people from self-delusion, and especially from organizations that manipulate people to treat people different than they in horrific ways.

people of organized religions can easily have non-altruistic motivations: mind control and fund-raising for perpetuation of mind control.

only people in disorganized religion seem to be the religious people you describe, without personal agendas, but they are generally not the ones preaching, because they understand that spirituality is a personal choice one cannot be coaxed, pushed or intimidated onto.
