Please advise whether a 100% disabled veteran is required to pay sales tax on a vehicle purchase. The veteran resides in Arkansas and has been granted 100% based on Individual Unemployability. The purchase was made at a dealer in Oklahoma.

From what I have been able to find on the AR DFA website, you will have to pay the sales tax. You are exempt from the ad-valorem county personal property taxes on the vehicle and may apply for a free Disabled Veteran tag for your car.

Here's a link to the exemption information on the DFA website: http://www.arkansas.gov/dfa/income_tax/tax_general_county_questions.html

Here's a link to the info on the free tag: http://www.arkansas.gov/dfa/motor_vehicle/mv_plates_detail.php?pl_id=18

Good luck and thank you for your service.
