Hindus say many explanations that they see God in every thing : (at is in the trees, animals ,every stone ,statue ,idol & any thing). If then, why can' they see God in the hard working (dalit ) oppressed people of India for the past 5000 years. The Hindus treat such hard working people as Untouchables ( that they are not worthy to be touched). Their Scriptures teach them to keep those poor people in a many meters distance.
Every Hindu has to touch his human waste daily (minimum 2 times) .But he never touches the dalits. He never allows even the shaddow of such poor people to fall upon him.In this respect the Hindu considers the dalits (the very back bone of India ) to be worse than his human waste. There are many news paper references in which the Hindus thrusted even Human waste & human urine in to the mouths of such oppressed people. The worst Crimes are carried out by the Hindus against the dalits.
Stones, cows or human beings ...which is great ?
Cow or Man ..Who can be a god?

Many Hindus see the whole caste oppressions, especially of Dalits,as irreligious and a mockery of the hindu Scriptures.

Other Hindus take certain things from their tradition and scriptures literally and others not,,just like Christian and Muslim fundamentalists do.What principles of tradition and scriptural interpretation do such people follow?

For someone of a "higher' caste to accept the oppression and exploitation of people because of some claim to its being the victims "karmic fate' is irresposible and strikes many other Hindus( as well as many Sikhs,Buddhists,Muslims and Christians and seculars) as hypocritical since the oppression of dalits as 'outcasts" and other 'inferiors' is to the social and economic advantage of the "higher' caste types.

Those of whatever religion or philosophy who condone social, economic or other forms of slavery and prostitution are also irrisponsible and deceiving themselves.

One can treat cows and the rest of nature respectfully, kindly and reverently but one must treat human beings so

I think you probably mean those who belong to the 'upper caste'. Because many of the Dalt's are also Hindus. The caste system ( when it was introduced) was meant to serve a different purpose all together. It was meant to divide the society on the basis of the work that people would do so that each one knew his "role" in the society and could contribute to its smooth functioning. As the society progressed, man's ego did too and made him suppress other who 'he' thought did menial jobs. This oppression continued for a long time. Man also chose ignore what he did not fancy and whatever was not convenient to him from the ancient texts, to suit his needs. This continues even now. Even today each generation decides what it likes and calls everything else that it does not fancy as being old fashioned, stupid etc. So in my opinion the ancient texts, the basis of any religion or the rules are not to be questioned. It is how "we" interpret it, that makes the difference. Anyway, as far your question is concerned, those who do these crimes cannot be termed as a 'good ' Hindu by their 'karma'. Times have changed now and so has people's outlook towards the 'Untouchables" and other down trodden people. Let's hope that what little remains of the oppression also stops soon.

I resent the word hindu. The vedic culture does not permit or condon such behavior. Krsna is a cowherd boy and loves cows. You as an Indian should already know the glories of GOMATA. Mother cow is also slaughtered in India. Truthfully Veda Vyasa predicted that the world would exisist in such a state of turmoil. We are living in Kali Yuga. The age of darkness and quarral. What is the suprise in that. The dalits are reveiving their Karma. The varnas come from the body of the purusha(Krsna). They all are Ayrans(Humans followers of dharma). Veda Vyasa said in Kali yuga we are all sudras or lower.

I am unable to understand the root cause of your question. Hindus are known for respecting all creations of God. Many animals and birds are given respect by presenting them as vehicle of God (mouse for Ganesh, swan for goddess Saraswati etc..). snakes are picturised around neck of lord Shiva. On all auspicious occassions, rice is spread around so as to feed birds.
To sum up, not only cow, all other living creatures are respected.
Coming to 'dalits', it is indeed sad that they are insulted and must be stopped. They should and are being slowly brought into main stream of life at par with others.

If it is true, it's a sad tradition that must be functionally abolished. But you know, the 'dalits' of the international community are third world countries like mine, exploited, ridiculed, etc. Do you know that the archeological wealth of Egypt and her neighbors are being kept by another country as if it were theirs?

We should not blame all Hindus or Hinduism for these oppression. If you turn back the pages of the History,we can clearly discern what Christian missionaries did in India. We cannot blame all the Christians or Christianity for these atrocities.Have a read, please.

HISTORY OF
CHRISTIAN MISSIONARY ATROCITIES IN INDIA

In India ,Hindus were forced to convert or faced torture and death. Thousands had to flee Goa in order to keep their culture and religious beliefs.

The historian Gaspar Correa described what Vasco da Gama did, thus:

"When all the Indians had thus been executed, he ordered them to strike upon their teeth with staves and they knocked them down their throats; as they were put on board, heaped on top of each other, mixed up with the blood which streamed from them; and he ordered mats and dry leaves to be spread over them and sails to be set for the shore and the vessels set on fire... " Before killing and burning the innocent Hindus he had their hands, ears and noses cut off.

…"When the Zamorin (head of the Hindu population) sent another Brahmin (Hindu Priest) to Vasco to plead for peace, he had his lips cut off and his ears cut off. The ears of a dog were sewn on him instead and the Brahmin was sent back to Zamorin in that state. The Brahmin… had brought with him three young boys, two of them his sons and the other a nephew. They were hanged from the yardarm and their bodies sent ashore."

"As soon as I arrived in any heathen village, when all are baptized, I order all the temples of their false gods to be destroyed and all the idols to be broken to pieces. I can give you no idea of the joy I feel in seeing this done." The Church had a special way of dealing with converted Hindus who were suspected of not observing Christian rites with appropriate rigour and enthusiasm, or even of covertly practicing their old faith: “…the culprits would be tracked down and burnt alive.”[28]

Many types of brutal torture were employed by the Inquisitors, such as mutilation of body parts, fire torture and drownings. The details of this torture are too ghastly and horrid to contemplate for any sane human being.

Children were flogged and slowly dismembered in front of their parents whose eyelids had been sliced off to make sure they missed nothing. Extremities were amputated carefully, so that a person could remain conscious even when all that remained was a torso and a head.”[30]

dear neither a human is god nor a cow is god. these were symbols for society but as freaks took over charge of godhood the discrimination seeped in. we all are shadows of god thus shadow cannot become the object or the source. when every one is a shadow then everyone is equal wether it s a man or a pig.

Well, you have exaggerate a little bit, it was the case earlier now most of upper caste people have changed. Coming back to answer your question..
Its is nothing that Hindus see god here and do not see god their.

It is very simple. they just follow the tradition, they have been told that god is everywhere, they believed it! they have been told that dalits are dirty and should not be touched, they believed it! they have been told that lingam should be worshipped, they believed it.
