My dog has tons of fleas on him. My yard has fleas in it. The only reason that my yard and dogs has fleas is because of my neighbor. What should i do? I give my dog regular baths(fleas baths every month) and i also put an ortho thingy in my yard. What can i do to protect my dog and yard from fleas?

Baking soda in the house, sweep it into the carpet, let it sit for a few hours and vacuum it up(this will dehydrate and kill the little buggers),This will take care of the indoors. Then try advantage on the dog(the drops work great) then keep the dog indoors and flea and tick spray the entire yard,Heavy! then wait a few days, sprinkle the lawn a few times with water to dilute the spray enough for the dog to return outside,I would concentrate the area around the perimeters of your neighbors yard

You got some good advice on how to control the fleas on your dog, but if your neighbor doesn't do something about the fleas in his yard, they'll keep migrating into yours.

It's a little pricey, but I would suggest calling a pest control company that deals with nematodes. These are little worm-like things that are flea parasites. You can have your yard sprayed with these things, and it'll kill off most of the fleas in a week or 2, and kill off the ones that are hopping over from your neighbor's yard too.

If you're still having a problem after a few months, go buy yourself some diatomacious earth and sprinkle it around the perimeter of your property, Sprinkle it inside your yard too, but concentrate on the edges, where your neighbor's fleas are coming in.

Diatomacious earth is organic, harmless (like the nematodes), and will dehydrate fleas that touch it.

Flea-bomb your whole house as often as the law allows. Nobody knows how long a fully-developed flea can live in its cocoon, but it's a long time -- maybe years. The more often you bomb your house the more likely you are to kill them.

PS You can sprinkle diatomacious earth into your furniture and carpets too. Let it stay in for a day or so, then vaccuum it up.

Have your yard treated on a regular basis and sprayed you also use a spot on treatment like K9Advantix it will kill the fleas when they bite, fleas don't live on the dog they live in grass, carpets, sewers, and bedding, you will need to bomb your house too. Try to do it all in one day but when you bath or have your dog dipped you need to wait at least 48 hours before applying the spot on treatment too many chemicals at once can be harmful, repeat the process in 10-14 days wash all bedding and the spot on treatment lasts for 4 weeks so no need to do that again but a bath or another flea dip would be good Fleas are hard too control but they can be if you do it right. Any more questions feel free to e-mail me Good luck

A healthy diet and garlic. Try Blue Buffalo dog/cat food company. They have the best dog food on the market with supplements that include garlic. I also add extra garlic (you can find it at any health food section of your grocery store or at a health food store-get the odorless kind!) when the flea season is really strong.
You may have to spray your yard, not just the ortho thingy! Check with your vet about something effective on your yard to kill what is already there. Then use the ortho as back up.
Blue Buffalo pet foods cold press their vitamin/supplements and then add them to the kibble after the kibble is baked. Kibble is baked at a high temperature that kills most of the potency of vitamins/supplements!
While your dog may seem healthy, fleas like homes on animals that are weakened/not healthy. Healthy dogs and cats stand a better chance of detracting fleas.
You might want to share this information with your neighbor too. Or give him a small bag of Blue Buffalo for Christmas!

I would in casual conversation mention that you have been having problems with flees in your yard; and ask your neighbor if they have been having the same problem. If they say yes then would be the time to suggest that you both treat the yard at the same time. You could suggest the products that you are using in the yard at that point.

I am currently giving the Brewers yeast tablets to my dogs, I am also using a natural pet spray that contains Citronella to get ride of the flees.

If you treat you dog and your house properly you should not have to treat your yard.

Currently you're not treating your dog properly - flea baths don't work. They only wash fleas off, the dog will be reinfested before the day is out! You need to get an actual proper flea treatment, like Frontline or Revolution, from your vets, and you also need to get a house spray from them.

Sergeants has a "Yard Guard" that you spray your yard and bushes with... after about 3 years of spraying we never see a flea or tick on our dogs or cats and we have 6 dogs and a neighbors cat came and had a litter of kittens in our wood pile and none of them have fleas either...

Good Luck

Well you could talk to your neighboor, see if there is anyways you could talk them into getting rid of the fleas in thier yard maybe offer some of the stuff you are usign to them, try not to be really random about it though, try to bring it up casually so you do not insult your neighboor. Just keep doing what you are doing and maybe ry to keep your dog iinside a lottle bit more, I know that sounds bad, but that's all you can do to keep your dog from getting fleas until your neighboor rids their yard of them. Good luck.
