I have been friends with this woman I've known and dated for 5 years. She's had other friends and so have I. We get along because we know there is really nothing there between us.We tried it. Its nothing there. We still knock the boots from time to time but mostly we go out, talk about her boyfriend , X boyfriend, her jobs, my need for a job, and other things. Our values also lye in trust and friendship. We have a mature relationship, I respect her feelings thoughts and she respect mine. I guess the reason why we are good friends is because we accept one another for who we are. We don't force each others wants and desires upon one another. But she always there for me -- bad time --good time, she's there. Could you be this way to your friend or X lover?

Closure and honesty , i have been friends with my ex who i dated for 10 years.
The reason why ex's are not usually friendy is because the relationship ended with to many unanswered questions, so if you want to be friends after, you have to be honest with all of the questions your ex has.

For me it was the hardest thing to be friends with an Ex. If you were "in love" or "had a crush" its harder to get over those feelings.
I mean its not hard to remain friends but its even harder to forget those feelings.
