I live in an Islamic Country and women can drive and vote...we even have women police officers who ride motorbikes. In this country there is no law which says you have to wear tons of clothes. Infact many girls dress very western. No one condemns them. We also have Christians here and some of them dress in Hijab and wear a headcover and no they are not nuns just normal women.
As for Saudi, what happens there is based on their culture and trust me as I live close there has been push for change..This is why we need to continue to push to educate women on their RIGHTS in Islam. So, men can not manipulate them ....

Actually, the fact that it's only Saudi Arabia and no other 'Muslim' country gives the clue that something other than Islam may be operating. With regard to women and voting, progress is being made there (in the 'Islamic' world). Interestingly, it is often the countries (like Lebanon) where society is more mixed that are slowest in this regard in the Middle East. Forced 'veiling' is an issue that progressives within Islam have been working on almost since Muhammad's time. Muslims as a whole still have a way to go to appreciate what Muhammad's mission actually was and liberate themselves more, though.

First of all, please every body read carfully this;
Saudia Arabia doesnt represent an Islamic country. The regime thier is not legal in Islam and Muslim should remove that system like what Dr Sa'ad Alfakeeh is doing right now.
Another thing, this corrupt regime with its scholar corrupted people, SA became one of the highest country in the world in consuming drugs.
So at this moment its not a deal if the women drive there or not, after removing this regime and security get bach to that country, women can be allowed to drive. Now its ver dangerous for a women to go out because one of those "princes" there may kidnap her and rape her.
Its disastorous regime, muslim and thier scholar should offense this regime not defend it. For nonmuslim, im saying this regime doesnt represent anything of Islam.

It's because of Muslim propaganda. Ultimately the hadiths allow a Muslim man to lie if he can use that lie to rope someone into the faith. They also claim a great university in Baghdad, the first in the world (but 15 years after Charlemagne founded one), claim that huge amounts of Muslim science and knowledge developed, but they DON'T tell you this university was ordered by the Caliph to help him gather knowledge mainly about how to rule a new, sprawling empire with an iron fist. It was more like the CIA than a university. Knowledge in the service of totalitarianism is reprehensible, like saying you're going to adopt Nazi principles just because they made the first jet planes.
They ALSO don't tell you that in a sense they both preserved AND destroyed ancient Greek texts. Only geometry scrolls got to keep their abstract diagrams; if it was a Greek scroll on biology the Muslims would censor the drawings out in their translations because they had a superstition against any drawings or sculptures of anything alive.

Yes, Islam expected women to maintain their status and gave us rights 1400 years ago, but unfortunatually, some Muslim contries don't give women those rights, its culture and maybe the goverment not Islam
Islam gave women the right to vote 1400 years ago when women were treated as nothing, Muslim women have this right, but some Muslim countries don't follow that, they are not follwoing Islam
We cover our body why?
By covering our beauty, we are evaluated for our intelligence and skills instead of looks and sexuality. Many women who cover are filled with dignity and self-esteem and are happy to be identified as a muslim woman. By wearing hijab the woman is concealing her sexuality but allowing her femininity to shine. Aside from that, it is pleasing to Allah and in return we earn blessings from wearing it.
WOMEN ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DRIVE IN SAUDI, that doesn't mean Islam said women should not drive, all Muslim women I know drive, It is even preferred in Islam for a woman to drive herself rather than being driven by a stranger without a legal escort,

You're right Islam was the first to give women their rights: to vote, to own property, etc. But what is being practiced by many governments such as the Saudia Arabian one have nothing to do with Islam. As much as they claim that certain things may be prohibited for women in Islam, they are pretty much exploiting Islam to serve their own agendas.

If you are a woman then you should be more concern about
uplifting the rights of women in your country rather than a
religion. The abuse of women of all religion happens behind close doors all over the world.
If you are a man then your question is bull****.

Hey man...Not everyone one in Saudia Arabia Muslim..Only 2% of muslims are Arab!!!
Next your question: About Women not driving is rite here..look at link..bottom
Women in islam jobs are to take care of children and the household. By doing politics, the family will be ruined. The Mother and female women jobs are to stay home and teach and take care of their children. Women are requiredt ot cover their bodies because we beilieve that no one has to the rite to look at our bodies. God told us to protect our bodies because it can help stop rape, wedlock adn other horrible things that happening in the world. When a women covers her body, she is protecting herself. She also protecting her family's dignty and her own. This will also prtoect her future children and family from not breaking apart.
aNY WAYS ALL IM TRYING TO SAY IS THAT NOT EVERYBODY IN SAUDI IS MUSLIM. SOMETHING GOT INTO THE KINGS HEAD AND SO HE PUT A RULE WOMEN CANT DRIVE. tHAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ISLAM!! HEY IN 5 YEARS I WILL BE ABLE TO DRIVE!!

you need to ask Saudi authorities about that, as in Islam, there is no clear explanation on it.
further more the Quran mentioned Queen/princess Balqis who ruled one country, a woman and never condemn her in holy text.
