Surgery is not an option, and I am tired of taking pain meds to cope. I also have Degenerative Disc Disease that was discovered after an MRI following a back injury. I am having a difficult time getting medical care and need some helpful home self care tips.

Hi ,figured I'd jump in and offer U my 2 cents worth and I guess along with what U already know ,that will be all its worth.I guessed one of the remedy's to help and GOOGLE verified it when It suggested stretching ,and that is one of the things we all do too little of these days till we have a problem and are told by a Doc and see the relief ,given time and if not overdone. The other one I can vouch for is the Arch Supports etc. they suggest. Muscles are sort of like bungee cords and can be stretched and need to be stretched fairly often during a day for most of us.If over done will injure where they join as anything overdone will making the brag -no pain ,no gain not necessarily true.Dats it other than telling you to go on da beer or rum and coke ,save one for me--lol

Not sure what Equinus is? DDD or degenerative disc disease is not a disease just part of the normal aging process. The disc dehydrate. Likewise you do not say what type of back injury. Hard to recommend any home treatments without full details.

Have you tried acupuncture or acupressure (not sure of the spelling). One uses needles and the other does not. I've had a broken vertebra and when pick up heavy weights, sometimes I do it wrong. They have to be re-aligned and the acupuncture relieves the pain for a short time but long enough for the muscles adjusts to the new placement. I have lived with pain for over forty years.
