Still haven't, and my oldest is 10
I've left them with grandparents since they were about 3, but that's just like a overnight thing.

Usually its when they are in high school. But the real question is if you trust your child. Will they be able not have dinner with out burning down the house, can they have friends over responsibly (no party). The age is always different, its if you are comfortable leaving your child alone.

Looking at previous posts, It all comes down to the maturity level of the person. Also, generally parents will ween children into bigger responsibilities over time e.g. couple hours then a full day then over night etc.... Thankfully because of cell phones you can contact your child or they can contact you if any issues arise. The biggest challenge is what restrictions you place with him/her such as no friends in the house or if he/she can go anywhere while you are gone. We all would like to trust our children however, they are teenagers and they get bored very quickly. The first time is always a leap of faith!!!

a child is a person under 18, and they should never be home alone for that long sorry its irresponsible on the parents take your kids with you or get a sitter. too many bad things can happen
or someone to see your kids alone and they call the cops. dont be stupid

It was right after I turn 17 when my parents went camping for the weekend. After they did that and everything went good they went camping almost every weekend. It let me be free to do what I wanted and they got time alone with each other.

According to most state laws you can leave them at the age of 10 but not with a younger sibling, only either by themselves or with an older kid. My parents started leaving me and my little sister when i was 7 and she was 4, but i was trusted and knew what to do. It just depends how responsible your son/daughter is and whether you trust them o and if they know what to do incase of an emergency.

My oldest son is 14 and NEVER left him alone for more than 2 hours at a time, and that's during the day. Personally if your kid is resposible and mature enough and can cook and care for themself, then I say it's okay at the age of 16 maybe 17 not younger though.

In today's world I would not leave my children alone. I do let me 16 year old babysit the 5 year old for a few hours from time to time. However, I would not let thme spend the night alone.
