The development of the caste system in the Indian society was obviously a gradual phenomenon. The inherent reason was to have strategic division of labour as the society posed with numerous economic problems. There are four great division on the basis of profession, namely Brahmins, ( Hindu scholars) Kshastrias ( military class), Vaishias (business and agriculture) and Shudras (other defined professions) in the early days, the caste division affected individuals merely, much in the same way as distinction is made between business and professional men in our own country today.

I have figured out during my trips to rural India for research purposes, there exists two groups predominantly non-dalits(upper caste) and dalits(low caste). Notwithstanding the reality of distinction openly displayed between the two groups, which is not religious, poverty often lurks in the background.

The dalits live away from the mainstream society as they call it as settlement or colonies. They are all the abodes of poor sanitation. It is strewn with litter. Packs of stray dogs prowl around, barking at strangers. A number of mini slaughter houses were selling meat openly in every nook and cranny of the villages, which not only emit foul smell but also threaten the health and hygiene of the people. Many volunteers within Indian and abroad had several clean- ups. However the situation did not improve.

The vast gap exits between the two groups as could be seen by the living conditions. Non-dalits would not let the dalits to have a hand shake or just mutual hug of friendship as they think dalits are unclean. Scruffy and untidy conditions delineate the difference. Though dalits partake in day to day chores of the non-dalits, a number of restrictions apply as to what to be done when it is a ritual to be performed at a temple. The orthodox rituals impose rigid rules of hygiene, and clean habits (non –vegetarianism, non animal handling). Many non-dalits nod to wider issues however innocuous to accept the exacerbating incidents which could be attributed to searing impoverishment.

Mass illiteracy, poverty and ignorance among the dalits are the recipe for the casteism as opposed to Hindu religion. Religion is a fallacious impression backed up by many of those mired in poverty. The gap between the haves and the have-nots looms wider than ever and practical aspects have been steadily ignored, thereby slowly and silently negative attitudes toward religion have been unseemly anchored.

Hi all,

Hinduism never created any casteism by any ways, its all we created the caste and made it to be available and to be followed, hinduism is the only religion which treated all the people as one .its the hinduism has the people of all the caste being workshipped as god.

consider u are an M.D in a company and all others are in the company of equal cadre to u ,In what way u will find the need to be solved. so u keep an security for ur office and a manager to manage ur resources and an maid to clean the office , similarly we people in ancient times created the caste for such things to be done. will it can be done by a person who is in equal cadre to u. this is how caste created.

No matter that caste exsist or not ,love every one without any discrimination.

Ideal Hinduism doesn't content any poisonous or anti-human ideas. Term Casteism should be replaced with term professionalism.

Casteism is not hinduism.Caste refers to one's profession.the religioin does not spek of it .It is just like this .you know and every learned person in the western countries know that the catholic priests have been and are committin gsexual crimes in the churches and several hundreds of themhave been charged before the couts of law in the UK , US and in some Europen copuntries too.since he priests ar practicing christinity and are in the service of god in the churches themselves and commit the sexaul crimes in the premises of the chruches with th epersons who visit the chrches for sevice , shall we say that the reliogns of christinaity and Jesus christ teaches sexaul offences like homosexuality , sodamy , child molestations etc .If you can say that the Bible , or hereligons and jesus crhist teaches all these offences and therey are the principles of chritianity , yu can say that casteism is the part of hindu religion sor Hindu reliion taches casteism. Please understand.People who do not care to verify the scriptures of any religions siomply pass adverse comments abouyt any religion based on the activities of people practising that religion just as I can ne accuse chritianity of teaching sexaul offences and child moslestatin in the churches by the priets themselves .
Because some people do not know what hinduism is and what the day to day socail life of people means and how the social practices are unrealted to the philosophy of the religion , talk and write things that are simply and purely rubbish. what ever one says , any intelligent person should verify the fact relating to the matter from the authentic texts , scriptures or records etc before believing them.
Many people are still confusing "varunashram" with the institution of castes based on professions .
Naming a person on the basis if castes is still in vogue in Uk.
A man's last name is always his professional name there.you see names like Oliver goldsmith . Tom butler ,Thamos cook , GEorge Weaver, some wood cutter , fagotter . tailor ,barber etc .Itis the same way taht people have beencalled by their professional names here in India also . Naturally in any spociety people in the menial jobs ae not treated as equally with those who are well off , eudcated and in higher positions .and there is no justification t single out the Hindu society alone .another important characte of the Hindu societywas hat it had a very high civic sense and hygeine .so people who were unclean wer not touched by those who were clean.since people in menial jobes failed ot keep themselves clean , the untouchabilty has stuck to all the people in unclen profession.in samll societies in the villages .In towns with larg epopulation , people do not know wha profession one belongs and people do nt practice untouchabilty if a person ois neat and clean.People of hgher castes , if hey are unclean would also be not touched by and person with a sense of hygeine. People who do not know anytig about the basic principles of he hindu society continue to say nonsense about it and the Hindus as is characteristic with their philosophy , do not bother about those ignoramuses .

Why casteism is poisonous, its the most wonderful social ordering of people based on their individual skills (work)

Discrimination based on the work u do, is the inhuman and poisonous thing..

Even today people all over the world discriminate others based on the work they do, their earnings, their type of life, money, their knowledge, their religion, their race, their skin color etc., and what no...

more progressed humans(in some way) have always been discriminating less progressed humans, this should stop through out the world, you cannot blame india, hindus and casteism for this.

In ancient India...In every village there used to be atleast one family belonging to each of the caste(means people belonging to working groups like merchants, teachers, labourers, leader), and only if each mingle with each other.. and work for each other...every one in the village will be happy..

So in every function(ie either temple, marriage or any social function)every caste(family) in the village used to take part...
and every caste used to contribute to the function....
it was a custom that every caste profit from that function and grow.(for eg in marriage-the brahmins do the mantra part, the vaisyas take care of all the business & agri part of the function, the sudras, does the shaving, haricut and other help for smooth functioning of the marriage, kshtriya takes care and looks to that no untoward incident happens in the function )

it is because people started discriminating people based on the work they do and failed to do their duty that india such a rich country once, is now in this condition.

Brahmins failed to do their teaching and spiritual duty, thats why the lack of sprituality in people, no one knows what vedas and gita is..and some western religion is converting people and explaining spirituality to a highly spiritual india.

Vaisyas failed to do their duty that why the economy went down..

the kshatriyas did not do their duty thats why islamic, protugese and british people from west invaded us and looted all treasures (both intellectual and material) what we had.

All now in india are sudras, working in front of computers for some alien country or doing jobs for others..i'm happy to be a sudra and work for others, but all other caste have not done their duty and thats why india is alien for indians them selves...

Castesism is NOT Religious issue. It is a Social Order created by a King called Manu. After Independence in India (August,15,1947) Castesism has become a Political issue because of the "Vote Bank"--23 % of population constitutes Scheduled Castes(SC) --8% constitutes Scheduled Tribes(ST) and the remaining 38 % constitutes Most Backward class(MBC) and Backward classes(BC) --So 69% of students with 35% marks each in Mathematics,Physics and Chemistry (MPC) or 35% marks each in Biology,Physics and Chemistry (BPC) in 12 th grade(Standard) get admissions in Engineering and Medical colleges Respectively.Mr.Sundar You might be Shocked to know that according to constitution CHRISTIANS are not eligible for this beifit ,because Christianity claims that it does not believe in Caste system -Only Hindus, Buddists, jains , Sikhs and even MUSLIMS are eligible for these benifits.because Christians constitute only 2% -just like Brahmins!!-of Vote bank whereas MUSLIMS constitute 12-15% of "Vote Banks" It is why all bridges are falling down and Medical graduates from Bihar attempt to feel the liver on the wrong side of the stomach.69% of State and Central Government jobs are reserved for SC/ ST/ BC/ MBC."Forward"(?!!!!) Caste Students(including Christians) with 99% marks in MPC or BPC do not get admission in Government Medical or Engineering colleges. It is why England has stopped recruiting and giving admissions for Higher studies for Indian Medical Graduates!!!!-- Dr.Ambedkar pleaded in Constituent assembly in 1947-1950-reservation ONLY for 15 years. Now Indian Politicians will not allow this Reservation benifit and CASTESISM to "disappear"-for the next One Billion years.-otherwise their "Vote Bank' will be ANNIHILATED.So please understand The RELIGION is not the cause for Castesism in India for the past 60 years and next one Billion years!!!!!!!..

RACISM IS CASTEISM IN INDIA

In India, the word CASTEISM is interchangeably used for RACISM.In India, Casteism is very much identical to Racism in Western countries. Casteism is the synonym for racism in India.

MEANING OF RACISM

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, racism is a belief or ideology that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially to distinguish it as being either superior or inferior to another race or races.

The Macquarie Dictionary defines racism thus: the belief that human races have distinctive characteristics which determine their respective cultures, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule or dominate others.

ETHNIC POPULATION IN INDIA AND RACISM/CASTEISM

Indian Population is polygenetic and is an amazing amalgamation of various races and cultures. There are many diverse ethnic groups among the people of India. The 6 main ethnic groups are as follows.
1. Negrito
2. Proto - Australoids or Austrics
3. Mongoloids
4. Mediterranean or Dravidian
5. Western Brachycephals
6. Nordic Aryans

Racism world-wide is manifested in every continent. It is not a big surprise that it prevails in India too, in the name of Casteism.

FACTS ABOUT RACISM AROUND THE GLOBE

Employment:

Racism strongly influences the possibility of getting a job
USA: Unemployment among black people is about twice as big as white people.
Great Britain: The Unemployment rate for ethnic minorities is twice as large as for white people. For some minorities the rate is even four times as large.
Australia: The percentage of unemployed native Australians is three times as large as that of white people.
Canada: Native Canadians are three times as exposed to unemployment as the rest of the population

Violence caused by racism:

Racist violence is increasing in several perts of the world:
Great Britain: 90% of racist motivated act of violence are committed by white people against ethnic minorities.

In 1993 it is estimated that there was 130.000 racist episodes.
USA: In 1993 seven out of ten fights were motivated by racism
Germany: In 1993 at least 52 persons were killed in racist acts of violence.
Italy: It is estimated that more than 100 racist assaults were committed in Rome in 1993
(Statistics from October 1994)

Given the scenario, the major religion in all the above countries is Christianity.

Do you think that Christianity is responsible for racism?

Does Christianity preach racism?

Do you blame Christianity for instigating racism?

It is not sensible to think that Christianity or any other religion is responsible for such racist activities.

IS IT LOGICAL,SENSIBLE AND RATIONAL TO THINK THAT HINDUISM IS RESPONSIBLE FOR RACISM/CASTEISM IN INDIA?
