Hope this question doesn't insult any of you but I'm totally naive.

Perhaps I should explain my thoughts on this one - I presumed things like HSV can be contracted orally and manifest in say, blisters in the mouth or throat. I wanted to know whether sharing a drink with someone with this led to it spreading. (HSV is an STI right?). But still thanks for the responses.

No. You will only be likely to contract a sexually transmitted infection from having sexual contact with someone. That is a definition of something that is sexually transmitted, a thing that is transmitted by sexual contact, not by sharing a drink.

STI is an abbrevaition of Sexually Transmitted Infection, so the answer is NO.

You can get mono (the kissing disease) by sharing a drink with someone but not STD's.
