I believe God has a Perfect Plan for my life -- Yes. But, we still have freedom of choice to deviate from or to follow that Plan. Nothing is predestined from the standpoint of removing our freedom of choice.
Though the English Bible uses the word predestinate (only four times and only in the NT), and our definition of this word supports the idea of being cast in concrete, this is not what is meant by the original inspiration from God nor by the original transcribers of that Message. Instead, it just means He formed a Plan for us before we were born; but, this does not remove our freedom of choice. God does know what choices we will make -- before we make them -- but He doesn't cause us to make those choices.
For nosillenhoj (John Ellison), below... God's Plan for us is only a secret to those whom don't study the Bible and whom don't try to maintain a relationship with Him. I can quote many verses about God's Plan for us in general. Specific details are revealed to the individual whom maintains a daily connection with Him. One example of His general Plan:
"I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for. Then you will call to me. You will come and pray to me, and I will answer you. You will seek me, and you will find me because you will seek me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:11-13 (GNB)

The future requires work, in order to be made better, nothing is a given. Theh future of this world depends, on people working extremely hard on the serious problems that we have, and thus creating a better future for us all. This is not destiny, we must make it happen or it won't happen. God wants us to all contribute positively to this world, God does not plan for us, but will guide us if we pray/meditate, do mind-body exercise, eat healthy, and don't over indulge.

No, but something like it. If you are born to Christian parents there is a pretty good chance you are destined to be a Christian, Hindu parents, Hindu, scientologist parents, scientologist, etc..
Born to a drug addict, you very well might find yourself a drugie as an adult. A violent family, well, you most likely will be violent yourself. All these things are vicious cycles, including the indoctrination of children into religious belief.
I don't believe in any deity, of the over 10,000 we know of starting with early polytheistic deities, that control it.

No, I like to believe I am the master of my own destiny, yet as you say, God does have his plans for us which we cannot change, yet ultimately, we plan our own lives. If God controlled us completely, how could we show ourselves to be good Catholics/Christians?, Also, if you believe things are pre-destined there's no point in having any ambition in life, you might as well sit back and leave it all.

Yes I believe we all have a destiny, for me its sometimes to simply live a life pleasing to God,and to worship him fully with your life. Eternity is the ultimate in destiny, many things can cause the interuption of ones destiny this side of heaven.Thank God for his mercy and grace and understanding in the frail humanity he created.Shalom

I believe destiny is an excellent excuse for those too fearful to take control of their own lives. Destiny is absolution for the passive.

I believe whatever happens, happens. It doesn't do me or anyone much good to go beyond that. It's fun to contemplate but that's about it. Time to get on with it otherwise.
