I am not sure what to think. It has been a really great church & the pastor is great too. He is supposedly burnt out so the staff forced him to take a 90 day leave. He started the church in the basement of his home & now it's at about 1200 people. They have collected over 1/2 mil. $ to build a new church so what happens to all of that??

Pray for him.
I'm having troubles in my church also. It seems to be the Old against the new. People set in their ways do not want to change.

Sad.

It should be the churches money but if his name is on the deed to the land then it may be his, hopefully if he is a real man of God his vacation time will help him out and he will come back fired up for the Lord, what I can't understand is why he is so burnt out, A church that size would wear out any one man surely there are deacons and elders and volunteers who can help run the church so the Pastor don't have to do everything. Good luck and I hope it all works out.

Since he actually started a "church" the money should be in the church's account and not the pastor's personal account. The money will still be there to build the church...with or without that particular pastor. If this person decides not to return as pastor, your church will be able to find someone else to lead your church.

It's easy to get burnt out when you have that much responsibility. If he hasn't been taking regular vacations I'm suprised he lasted that long. My bet is he'll come back from vacation and be ready to lead again. If not, then the church has a board that will council him, and if he leaves, it will be thier responsibility to find a new pastor. I would guess that the new building would be delayed but still happen.

The fact that the church board has sent him on a leave of absence tells me that the church paper work was set up in such a way that the offerings remain in the control of the church board. Ask Jesus to direct the church board according to His will for the church.

If you can't get an accurate satisfactory accounting of the funds raised, the church budget, etc. - then start looking for a new church home.

They may not be responsible stewards of the Lord's money.

The church is the people. Christ is the head, not a pastor.

Find a new minister and continue on with your church.

Hopefully, he's not spending it on his 90 day leave of absence. ;-)

Is there a financial committee? They should be in charge of the funds.
