Hi there.
You are right, the car will not need MOT for 3 years - DVLA will be in touch when it is time.
The only reason for you to get an MOT is if you are worried the car is not in a good state - the MOT would tell you all you need to know.
Good luck, Steve.

You do NOT need a MOT until the car is 3 years old. When you tax it all you need to produce at the Post Office is the Log Book and the Insurance Policy.
My Dad bought an 05 plate car new from a main dealer, it will NOT need an MOT until March 2008 - which is when the 08 plates come out.

In the UK, a car does not need to have an MOT for the first three years of it's life (from first registration). So, if your car was first registered one year ago by its first owner, you do not need to MOT it for another two years.

you're taking the automobile off the line, declare SORN with the tax human beings and end driving. As you have already committed an offence you won't wreck out with no fantastic, however the above is properly worth a try. can no longer have the money for an MoT potential off the line. Sorry.

Unless you intend to use the vehicle for carrying passengers for hire/ reward an MOT is not needed for three years from date of registration.
