I wanna buy a digital camera. I can not decide wheather to buy a handycam or digital still camera. I am interested in taking small video clippings of kids playing or small parties. I am told that the digital still cameras may also take video shots of about half an hour. What is the difference in the video quality of the actions shot by digital still cameras.

If you are going to upload to the web, digital still is convienent because of the small file size and drag-and-drop file capability (always ask people before uploading their likeness/image to the web).

If you want to edit them or output to DVD you'll definately want a video camera instead.

before buying a still camera for video, check out 2 items.
1. not all still cameras have a microphone, some make silent movies.
2. some store files as Mpeg1. This is only 240 x 320 pixels where as miniDV is 480x720 pixels
having a tape makes archiving over the years much easier. computer files have to be constantly be loaded onto new drives every 3 years or so to keep up with computer operating system changes.

i'd advise the Casio Exilim EX-Z60. I had some difficulty with the utility yet that became because of the fact it became defective. i think of you will desire to get it because it had intense high quality Optical zoom. solid Mega-pixels and has a brilliant reveal. it is likewise very compact and narrow which comes with a Case.
