I'm not much of a baker, but are fairy cakes multi layered? If so, why not try flipping the top layer over and use it as the top of your cake? Then it will be easier to ice, since its naturally flat from the bottom of the pan.I'm not sure what a fairy cake is, but they sound interesting! Good luck!

A fairy cake sounds so delightful! ( I don't know what a fairy cake is! ) With my cakes, I grease the bottom and sides of the pan, and then flour the bottom of the pan. Add the batter, then rotate the pan so that the batter coats the sides of the pan. The batter will sink back in the pan, but the batter on the sides kind of stops the dome from forming. Pretty cool, and it works!

I tried to move the tray down to 1 level get closer to the bottom heat and set the oven to fan forced bottom heat only. When the cakes raise (inside out), decrease the heat from 180 C degree to 150 C degree until lightly golden and meanwhile, change the heat to bottom-above heat option, turn off the fan forced option and move the cake upward.
Good luck

common, once you have placed your spoon of cake combination into the situations interior the tray, only faucet the tray on the edge a pair of circumstances . This tiers out the mixture interior the cooking situations and makes flat-ish muffins. additionally, in the journey that your oven is cooking greater than it is going to, bake the muffins decrease down on the backside rack of the oven. Trick is to no longer open the oven till your 12-quarter-hour is up. in case you preserve establishing the oven to learn, they lose their warmth from the backside and finally end up slightly squishy below.

Just cut the top off. The best way is to leave it in the pan and then take a piece of thread and pull it taut between your hands and then run it across the top of the pan. Will cut it nice and straight.

You can't stop it! Just shave some of the dome off to make the cake flatter. You won't notice it once it's been iced.

turn the oven down by 10 degrees, this will lead to more even cooking. Otherwise just cut off the 'little pointy bit' before icing, nobody will notice.

You can't as far as I know, but you can just slice the dome bit off with a very sharp knife when they are cooled before you ice them.

If the mix is solid enough, I guess you could push the back of a spoon into them creating a dip.
