Technically yes you can polish the scratch out using a mild abrasive if it is not deep. In reality I have tried many times to do this with CD and DVD's that are damaged with varying degrees of success
There are some software recovery packages out there
Try here it might help

It can be done if you are very careful and the scratches are only very light. First clean the surface with a lint free cloth and a little liquid soap, diluted washing up liquid is good. Dry thoroughly then for some magic, spray a small ammount of furniture polish onto a cloth and polish over the scratches. The polish fills the surface and allows the laser to read the disc again. This will not work if the scratch is too deep or if the actual silver finish has been damaged.

Hi
You can get a auto machine to remove slight scratches or marks for around £20 at either max TV or maplins [ both the same ] .It is mains powered and has a timer and you put in the correct grinding wheels then press the button and wait then change the wheels to the polish and a drop of the paste you get then press the button then wait then wipe the disc and try it if still not ok repeat again.
i have had some work and the odd badly scrached bin job.
bye

YES. use a banana and rub it on the disc surface. make sure it's all covered.
wipe the banana off with a cd cleaning cloth.
spray some glass cleaner on it and wipe the glass clean with a different cd cleaning cloth. it should come out well
*wipe in small circles around the disc (not the entire disc just really small circles till it's clean) yes this actually works for this technique
** when cleaning discs free of dust only wipe from the inside to the outside in a straight line otherwise you'll scratch it

Most cleaning machines are able to get disks reeeeeeally clean, but one that resurfaces the disk itself? Since it's an optical system, unless the whole surface was absolutely clear, the data would be garbled where the scratch was. Haven't heard of a commercially available system that can to the job right.

you can try brasso use some t.shirt material to clean it and (dont clean around ) go very gently from the inside in a straight gentle motion to the outer side, leave it to dry for a few minutes then rub it off in the same way sometimes it works some times not, it might not work first time so you can do it again . also some c.d shops sell a filler but that is expensive and does not always work

never heard of getting scratches out of CD's or DVD's correctly. I would look around for a cheap DVD of The Incredibles, and buy another one.

no, the info has been corrupted. It'll be cheaper to get another copy from somewhere like amazon than to try and treat the DVD.
