I believe that some of the Bible is God's words being a Christian myself but the bible was never written by God it was written by Man and at the time it was written it was said it was wrong to be gay or lesbian, etc and also men were meant to be superior to women and the chances of people putting in their own words to match their is very high and you can tell some Bible verses couldn't have possibly been the words of God as there's one that says, "A good wife is a silent wife" which is sexest towards women and then there's one that says everyones equal and them to verses go against each other so Man must have added his own meaning not everything the Bible says can be taken seriously. I bet all the verses that say being lesbian or gay is wrong were made up by Man and not by God and I think seen as Man wrote it, it had to have been corrupted in some way.
Do you agree with this?

I completely agree with you. People may just take the Bible so seriously because it was written such a long time ago and century after century, people continue to follow the rules of the Bible. But yes, I agree that some of it was written by man because some of the things that the Bible says are not likely to be written by G-d.

I do not agree with you.
As far as the Bible saying "A good wife is a silent wife", um mm, where is that?
I am aware that in Proverbs it speaks of it being better to live in silence than to live in a house with a nagging woman.
I don't really think anyone could argue with that. Myself included. And lets face it men are rarely nags.
A paraphrased version says it is better to eat at the table alone than to live under a roof which houses war.
I believe that yes indeed men "wrote" the Bible. That is they held the pen and did the scribing, but I believe the God is the author, by way of the Holy Spirits inspiration.
So, I seriously take the Bible as God's chosen missive to us.

i agree in part
most of it was written when women had a different status in society & the family.
god always expects a man to be the head of the household, to be firm but kind.
the fact that some men are lousy at this, isn't gods fault, but theirs.
sorry, dude but there are many verses that are very specific about homosexuality being wrong in gods eyes.
& the ones who say
" It doesn't count, as sodom & gomorrah is long gone now "
is just their way of dealing with breaking gods strict laws.
if you can get hold of a copy of the bible in greek, hebrew & aramaic, with a direct english translation.
I find they are the closest thing to unadulterated without man-made bits added.

Christians do not stick with the former testomony in line with se, because the former testomony is the tale of the creation of the earth, devil's fall from heaven and rulership of the Earth, a large flood, enslavement of the Jews, their returning to God, and the guidelines he gave them. some prophecy that has been fulfilled and is presently being fulfilled as well. The previous testomony regulation as area of the covenant with the semite Jews of Israel. The gentiles (non-Jews) were no longer conscious about this covenant except one switched over totally and thoroughly to Judaism and the Mosaic regulation. the recent testomony is the recent covenant between guy and God by Jesus. many of the former regulation is abolished by technique of the note of God and the sacrifice of Jesus. I take the whole bible very, very heavily. quit talking for all persons, fairly once you do not even understand something about the bible. quit generalizing and quit being so presumptive. there is not any contradiction contained in the Bible. If one reads contradiction one has did not understand something. it is continuously a contextual aspect and so-talked about as contradicting verses are just about continuously cherry picked.

Love your thought provoking question and your comments.
Maybe its because they do not want to believe in anything else and if they did they probably think that they would get sent to the realms of hell!
Yes the bible was written by mankind and yet throughout time people have added their own meaning because it fits well with their own belief system.
A thought can be changed but a belief is even harder because when challenged it really kicks off!

The Bible isn't meant to be God's word. It was created to teach people, to guide them on how to live their lives properly. That is why it is full of flaws, as it was written at a different time with different attitudes.
Basically, if you know what is morally right or wrong you'll do alright.

I agree with you. I've been saying for years that the Bible cannot be the word of God. There are too many contradictions and rules that are more like "man" (literally) made rules.
My version of the Bible would be God telling His children to love, honor, respect and to be tolerant of all of His children. I honestly don't think God is to be feared. I think he is to be Loved.

I agree with you.
The Bible says that if christians beleive, they can lay hands on each other when they are sick and beleive that God will heal them.
I wonder why they always go see their doctors or go to the hospitals instead? Maybe because they know that "god" does not heal.
