As a child I read the Hardy Boys and never once thought I was a boy detective. As an adult I read Crime and Punishment and never wanted to be a criminal like Rashkolikov. Why do people think that Harry Potter will make warlocks out of children?

Traditional religions are very sensitive to anything that challenges their beliefs by creating a world with differing beliefs. They were born in primative times, in which they though they had a monopoly on truth, since skeptical science had not existed at that time to any degree of influence. New or different ideas scare these religions. Traditional religion is not, like science. Science is willing to explore new ideas and possibilities, and develop new knowledge, while most religions are resistent to any advances in their ideas or knowledge.

Some just seem to think that children cannot separate fantasy from reality when they can actually do so far better than most adults.

All children play make believe and they don't live in a fantasy world when they grow up. Fantasy is a normal way for the brain to learn and become creative. Some people just feel threatened by that I suppose.

some people are just idiots. I do not want to name names, but it is only certain people with certain beliefs that believe this. Some are idiots, most are insecure idiots with a belief.
Idiot is idiot, belief or none.
