my 4 dogs normally get a run every day at my local riding stables after all the horses have gone back on the polo field for approx an hour. if i don't go down to see the horses i take them for a 30-45 minute walk but today it's been raining all day so they haven't had the chance to go outside unless for a toilet break. they have been playing with toys, each other and got some special treats. i played ball with them as good as i could in the flat but i don't know if that's enough. what do you think? what do you do with your dogs on a rainy day?

oh i have a fun one

put your dogs on a sit stay ( or lock them in the kitchen) show them that you have a handful of treats... then go to the living room and hide the treats all over the place,, onder the cushion, in a shoe, on a windowsill, under a table etc.. then go back to the kitchen and say ":lets play the find it game" and let them loose... at first you may have to help them a little, but it won';t take them long to start using their noses instead of their eyes,,,,,, this is a fun game, and when they get good at it... you will be hard pressed to find a spot that they can't find

Rain or shine my dog goes out in all weathers every day no matter what. If it's raining I put on an old Australian drovers coat which reaches nearly to the ground, my dog is a female Labrador, and as most people know they love water and have a very good waterproof coat. Rub her down well when I get home and we are fine. She's three and I'm seventy three so there's no excuse.

On rainy days when I can't take my girls out for walks, I usually put them on my treadmill for about 30 minutes to let them burn off their excess energy. I also play obedience games with them like hide and seek. I show them their favorite toy or special treat, ask them to stay while I go hide it and then give them a search command. They get to play as soon as they find their stuff and they LOVE it!

Mental stimulation is just as tiring for a dog as physical exercise usually. If they need to brush up on their obedience, rainy days are the perfect time.

Mine loves rain or anything messy for that matter. If its pouring too hard he will only go out to potty. A steady rain we still walk.....everyday! Sometimes I get him out a frozen soup bone and hide it. My house is big enough so we can play ball inside. I like to throw it down from upstairs that way hes getting a bit more exercise than just playing on one level. He also likes to chase bubbles, and the red light from the lazor pointer. LOL

Sleep..lol..bot I often hide treats around the house rain or shine and let the dogs find them. I hide them on bookcases, just under dog beds, on windowsills, etc.

Dress warmly and go walking in the rain! Neither you nor your dogs are gonna melt! LOL might be fun.
