You guys keep drinking water if you want!

Recovery drinks are not to be confused with electrolyte sports drinks, they are formulated for ....Recovery!

I Have a proper recovery drink 'chocolate milk' flavour it's got loads of carbs, protein and vitamins. Use a shop bought drink,- unless you know what you are doing !

Have a banana, energy bar or peanut butter sandwich within half an hour of finishing and some pasta about an hour later!

Hopes this helps mate!

I suppose its possible, but why?

Yes, they're high profit margin items for the companies that make them, but they're not THAT expensive, and the whole point is convenience.

If you're THAT cheap, just have a glass of water and a banana. Net effect is the same.

Now that I think about it, why are you even in the sport if price and someone's profit margin are offensive to you?

A decent bike runs $2000, wetsuit another $400, Ironman entry fees upwards of $400, shoes $60-150.

Just go to the local beach, do your swim, jump on your Huffy for 112, then run barefoot through the forest. Who needs aid stations or traffic control? Your $10 Swatch is good enough to keep time......

Most drinks are basically, water with some type of sugars, flavors and trace minerals (electrolites) or salts added. Here are 3 of many sites I found.

Why don't you try water. You must be one of those idiots that think overpriced glorified store bought water actually does anything more than regular water. Perfect example: Evian spelled backwards - naive. Most of these "special" waters come from the same place as the water you get out of your sink. P.T. Barnum said it best - "There's a sucker born every minute". So true.
