It has changed a lot, grown and its silhouette is unbelievable beautiful. More then 11 million people living there, of course this is an official number, in fact it is 15 million (unofficial).
P.e. Akmerkez in the quarter of Etiler is the only shopping mall in the world which won both "Europe's Best" and "World's Best" awards by ICSC. The 6 km (4 mi) long Bağdat Avenue on the Anatolian side has rows of shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants lining up its wide granite pavements on both flanks etc. It would take hours to talk about the "new" Istanbul.
If you come to Istanbul you'll ask yourself, is this really Istanbul? it has changed a lot - for better.

Hello,
Istanbul is a big metropol and a very beautiful one. You can find everything together. Beautiful Bosphore, wonderful landscapes,sea,museums,palaces,vapours... but at the same time modern time buildings, skyscrapers, shopping malls, cafes, restaurants, clubs.
I am not sorry that they are building new things as long as it fits the area and it is beautifully made. I will not be happy if Istanbul stayed like an old medieval town like some European cities (which never change, it is so boring)
Istanbul is a joy, it represents youth, joy and history at the same time, when you wake up you are sure that there is something new will happen.
I love Istanbul the way it is.
Welcome by the way, hope you'll enjoy your stay.
