My cat has a litterbox. But she shits in my bathroom! WHY???

my cat is just like that .I think some cats are like that because when we go to the bathroom they want to try that .when my cat always shits in the bathroom that is very good because she flush it .or when you buy it on a pet shop your cat is already trained.

all the people who have said to put the litter box in the bathroom are on the right track, however, if you dont want it in the bathroom permanently, wait until she is actually going in the tray and then just move it a little further towards where you do want it, about 30cm every day. your cat will eventually realise that the tray is her toilet and follow it back to where you want it. i really dont think that she is going in the bathroom because she smells your waste, like other people have said. its more likely that its just a bad habit that she has formed and cannot break! she is a cat, how is she meant to know that a tray is a toilet? anyway, hope this helps. :-)

its either the sand in the litterbox is filthy ( of coarse u have to get special sand from any animal store or maybe sometimes small markets) or the cat is not used to shitting in sand....... i give u advice, try putting th litterbox in the bathroom maybe it'll work good luck :P

Is her litter box clean? Does it have fresh litter in it? If she doesn't like the litter you are using get one she does. Some cats don't like the feel of some litters. Is she a kitten...if so put the box where she IS going to use it. Is she new to your house? Then put the tray where she can get at it...put her in the tray so she knows its hers. Are other cats using it ...if she's new to the house she may need her own tray. Cats are clean animals and like clean things. Bad smalls turn them off. Good luck...there will be a reason, so if you're patient she'll show you what she needs.

Keep her litterbox clean, in fact, if she pooped in the bathroom once before and she finds her box not to her liking, she will poop in the bathroom again. Believe me, I know , I have six cats and they will poop anywhere if their box is not clean.

you need to keep litter box clean at all times,, and also she may prefer a different kind of litter,,, experiment a little,, can you just let her outside to go to the bathroom,, most cats prefer that to anything else

She can smell traces of your excrement in there. Do a better job of cleaning the feces off your bathroom floor.

Also, you might want to squeeze one off into her litterbox so she knows that's what it's for. Make sure you take lots of Metamucil and prune juice before hand.
