ABRAHAM'S FAMILY IN EGYPT AND JOB IN THE LAND OF UZ
Joseph was governor of Egypt 80 years, after age 30, his whole family was in Egypt from the time Joseph was age 40. Gen.46:13, 27; Job had to be among the 70 members of Jacob's family that went into Egypt, year 2298,
Jacob died year 2315, Joseph died year 2368, Job has returned to land near Jacob's twin brother's family, Esau [ = Edom Gen.36:8; Lam.4:21 ]; Job 1:1;
So about the year 2370, Job is the most Just man on the face of the earth, he
or his family will not be in Egypt world Empire #1, but the god of this world that accuses the just day and night Job 2:1-6; Rev.12:9,10; God told Satan to spare the life of Job, Satan will not make Job turn away from God, he knows what this old world is all about 2Cor.4:3,4 [ the devil Satan is the god of this world, this is the world that ends, the 2nd coming of Jesus and his eternity is the end of this world Matt.24:3 ]; Jobs family in Egypt Exo.1:8,11-13; Abraham's family, persecuted. Moses born year 2433, the year Job died,
and Pharoah is killing all the male infants born in Abraham family. Moses is
saved. At age 80 Exo.7:7; 12:37,40,41; he saves 600,000 able bodied men from Egypt, 430 years after Abraham gets the Promised Land covenant, his family will have the Gal.3:16-18; law of the land and the laws of God, 470 years after Abraham to be law keepers and law enforcers, the first on the earth at year 2553. So Job is not the only one in Abraham's family that Satan has tried to devour. 1Pet.5:8; Abraham son #20, in genealogy of Jesus, David son #34, Jechoniah son #48 Eze.1:2; lineage of Joseph the husband of Mary, Mary is lineage of Nathan, son of David, Mary is mother of Jesus son #62. Matt.1:1-17; WE KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO JESUS.

I'm surprised the old testament god could gather followers. The response from God to Job when he questioned Him puts him pompous *** category, and the behavior can only be classified as sick. Imagine allowing a friend to mistreat a pet just for kicks to see if the pet will remain loyal.
The whole story reminds me of a less interesting Trading Places.
To the guy below:
"Fact: Earth is still the only planet proven to this day to have intelligent life."
How can we prove life exists or doesn't exist on other planets when we can't even visit any? Like you say, there are billions of stars out there, and they are separated by millions of light years. What your are saying is like never leaving your home, and saying whatever you can't see does not exist.

God does give us a challenging world, full of serious problems, that can test the human spirit to the maximun. The fact that humanity, has not been up to the task very well, is why we have such a messed up world. Traditional religions have not done a good enough job, at developing or training or even inspiring people morally, to become strong enough spiritually, to take on these problems adequately. A lot of people don"t believe we have serious problems in this world, because spiritual institution have not sensitized them to that fact. If our religious institutions would open up themselves to new and better spiritual, and make advances similar to science. the world would be a lot better off. If we put the same effort and struggle, we put into fighting a war, into solving the problems of the world directly, a lot of good could be done. But, we would have to have a lot more of our public involved. than we have in this current war, to really make it work.

After the trials he went through Job received double every thing he had before. God did take care of him very well but he did have to prove his faith. I don't think I could go through what he did with my faith intact. From being a rich and powerful man to a bum with severe health problems in a very short time, that I assume lasted a year or more trying his faith.Well just be glad we are not expected to endure that much.

God allowed Satan to take all that Job had and not take his life, that was the only requirement.
He even gave him boils and all of that but he couldn't kill him, read the book and you will see all of this.
We took about a month or two to study this during our sermons on Sunday mornings and it was very interesting. God did let Satan do all of that to Job and Job never lost faith in God and he would never forsake God.

Ah, as ever, it depends on your hermeneutic.
Taking it literally, with Satan popping up to heaven for chats with God... now there are problems.
Taking it as a parable to make particular points it's not so immediately self-invalidating, even if it does portray God as seemingly cruel and capricious, wiping out Job's family to make a point.
God has rights to be such, being God, as various verses in the bible declare, and Paul makes very explicit in Romans 9.
(Shut up and stop moaning! You're just clay.)
If God is, and is like that, you'd better adjust to it.
Alternately take it as evidence that we are dealing with ancient myths of a tribal deity. Caprice and vengence included.
Make your choice.

Be careful how you choose to interpret God's word. God was never tempted by Satan. Because God tested His servant Job does not mean that He gave in to temptation.
"Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am temped by God", for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone." James 1:13

Every religions texts were written by priests of the era. The creator has all the do's and dont's already programmed into his system. If you go against his system you get whacked upside the head.

If you're talking about God letting Satan test Job, then not really.
If you're talking about God's response to Job's complaints, then you get to see God's real attitude toward humanity. It pretty much can be boiled down to God saying to Job, "Who do you think you are to tell me how I should run MY universe?"
