Most non-Catholic Christian denominations accept Catholics as Christians. A very few do not.
The World Council of Churches which brings together more than 340 churches, denominations and church fellowships in over 100 countries and territories throughout the world, representing some 550 million Christians accepts the 1.1 billion Catholics as Christians. http://wcc-coe.org/wcc/who/faq-e.html#07
A dictionary would say that a Christian is someone professing belief in Jesus as Christ or following the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus.
Catholics would fit this definition.
In the Nicene creed, from 325 C.E., Catholics profess:
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in being with the Father.
Through Him all things were made.
For us and our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit, He was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died, and was buried.
On the third day He rose again in fulfillment of the scriptures: He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We are baptized as Jesus commanded in Matthew 28:19, "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."
We truly are spiritually "born again," we just don't usually use those words.
For a complete description of what Catholics believe, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/index.htm
With love in Christ.

Depends on who you talk to. The Orthodox church would tell you that the Catholics split from them in 1054.
But I agree with you in principle. The Catholics were definitely there before the denominations who denounce them as not being "true" Christians. It all reminds me of Gulliver's Travels, and the Lilliputians' war.

Maybe you should do some study into the whole Protestant Reformation and see what they were protesting about.
Conservatively, some 50 Million people were slain by the Roman Catholic Church during its 1260 year reign of terror between 538AD and 1798AD. This country was founded by people fleeing to a new land to escape religious persecution. That is why the authors of the constitution erected a wall of separation between church and state.
The claim by Catholics that they are the "Mother Church" only verifies that they, and only they, are identified in 2 Thessalonians when Paul talks about the great apostasy or falling away of the antichrist. In order for the antichrist power to fall away, it must have been Christian to begin with, and so we have the Catholic Church, married to Paganism and losing its Christian identity in the process.
How many poisonous substances need to be present before food is unfit to eat? Most people would say just one. How many poisonous doctrines, infiltrated by Satan himself must be present before true Christians must remove their names from the books of that church? The Protestant Reformation was just that, protesting against the abuses and unbiblical doctrines of Rome.
The Catholic Church is truly what scripture said she was, Babylon the Great, the Mother of Whores, the Man of Sin, the Mystery of Iniquity, the Little horn of Daniel 7 and 8, the antichrist power.
Although there are many true Christians in the Catholic Church, the church is no more in harmony with the gospel of Christ than when it slew the saints of the Most High during the dark ages. There can be no union between Christ and antichrist.

The original church that was founded upon the teachings of Jesus Christ was in fact called catholic. But here is where it went wrong. As satan knew that he couldn't defeat the Word of God, he could make it weaker by infecting it with man's interpretations of the Word. By the time of the Council of Nicea, 325 A.D., we had a group of "learned" men that had fallen away from the teachings of the Apostles trying to describe the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. What they came up with was a contradictory description of the Father and the Son and never got around to the Holy Ghost. Had they adhered to the original teachings of the Apostles, they would have discovered that we need the Holy Ghost and the power that it contains to get to the Father.
In a nutshell, men forsook the Holy Ghost and relied on their own interpretations of the Holy Scriptures. This is where we have so many different religions and where catholocism today is so very different from what God designed it to be. We need to get back to the design of the original church and be taught of the Father in order to get into heaven.

Because Catholics don't go around recruiting people
and the Christians think that's just terrible. Plus, the Catholics can go to confession and be forgiven by doing things they are told to do to repent in a sense and the Christians don't think that's right... although, they can be forgiven over and over and over and over..just by praying..
ex catholic... atheist.

I always thought that was stupid. Catholics ARE Christians.
Personally, I think the in-fighting is proof that all Christians are really war-mongers and aren't happy unless they're pushing somebody else down.

True that. That is why they call the Catholic Church a "Whore." It is just to give themselves legitimacy. Since they don't have the Vatican and all that tradition they have to point the finger at them in derision.
