Since you have already lost 30 pounds it sounds as though you are already eating well and exercising correctly. You should stay on the same path to continue to lose the additional weight.

I see that you have added weight training to your exercise plan---very good choice. Weight training will burn fat, boost metabolism and keep your metabolism up longer. By doing weight training you may notice that the scale does not move as quickly as before however, your body should continue to get thinner and any weight that you do lose will be from fat and not water or muscle.

I would really stay away from both Gatorade and power bars as both are high in sugar (high fructose corn syrup which is the worst) and many power bar can also be high in fat. These both will slow down your weight loss.

If you are currently using a scale to judge your progress--get rid of it for a while and judge your weight loss on how your clothes fit. With weight training you will be building muscle and it weight more than fat (but is smaller in size) so although you are getting slimmer your scale won't budge for a few weeks.

Try not to lose more than 2 pounds in a week now since you don't want your skin to get all saggy and flappy--which it will if you lose too quickly. Now with weight training you may find that your original goal of a total of 70 pounds might be too much and you may find that 55-60 will be more than enough.

If you keep on your same path you will probably realize your goal early summer or late spring. But again with weight training you will probably reach your goal sooner.

Depends on your age, bmi, etc.. Probably will take a year or so if you're trying to lose 100 lbs or more,

To boost metabolism, you have to vary your routine when you're at a plateau.

I would skip the weight lifting for now and go mostly cardio and walking, especially to get rid of belly fat.

Getting it off fast will only put it back on fast-Oprah has been one great example of this.

Yes, gatorades are bad -there nothing but sucrose which is sugar. Power bars aren't the best, either.

I would really recommend you read "YOU on a Diet" by Dr. Mehmet Oz. He is one of the top Cardiologists and Heart Surgeons in the country and can explain how the additives in foods cause us to be overweight and insulin dependent. His book is REALLY great!

Long story short. No. Not safely. You might be losing weight. But chances are it might not all be fat loss. It could be water, Glycogen/Glucose, Bone or Lean Muscle.

0.5 to 1 kilo a week for lasting fat loss.
(1.1 to 2.2)

Work out your BMR then eat a diet to a 300-400 cal deficit of your BMR.

Don't forget exercise.

Power bars & gatorade is right yu need the electrolytes & protien. i don t know how your friend lost 70 in How much time? after the initial 1st pounds it slows down , it sounds like your metabolism is great, from all your doing! & you do need some carbs, Yes weight will form muscle , not fat, it will help you.

Youre doing great, give it like 1 or 2 lbs a week is normal, it's not normal to loose 10 lbs every week. You'll get sick or something.
you'll get there it just takes time.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!

Get started today!
