It's more than 'unfortunate'.
I hope the other driver reports it to the police, we need to get idiots off the streets.
You'll see yourself in court, with a penalty that will cost more than insurance for a year ever would.
Not to mention penalty points on your license, if you get to keep it all.

No way on earth is an insurer going to take on a policy where it knows it's going to have the possibility of an immediate payment (you may THINK it's not your fault.....). If it was a lapse on your part and you simply didn't realise your insurance had lapsed recently (the ONLY conceivable way your situation could be described as 'unfortunate')- speak to your most recent insurers about a period of grace (usually a month). However if you were wilfully driving having never been insured, or with a long-lapsed policy (not unfortunate, rather illegal, immoral and deeply stupid), then get your wallet ready for some serious damage - you;re gonna be paying for everything in that accident, plus a fine from the police, plus a huge insurance premium (assuming any company will touch you) if you wanna carry on driving. Uninsured drivers are a pest who cause misery for millions of people every year.

You cannot get back dated cover for any insurance. If you attempt to do so then you will be encouraging the broker to break the law. The authorities take a very dim view of Insurance fraud and prison sentences are very common punishments for it.
Also, whether the accident was your fault or not you have committed a very serious offence by driving without insurance. You're expecting the remaining motorists who do have insurance to cover the costs of your your accidents. At the very least that is being selfish.
What would you do if you maimed or killed someone?
Your best option is to put your hands up and confess to being an idiot.
Then when you're in front of the magistrate, be remorseful, accept the driving ban, pay your fine and don't do it again.
Then, when your ban is over you can drive properly, taxed, MOT'd, insured and with a clear conscience.

I have absolutely no sympathy with you. It's people like you who drive motor vehicles without insurance that put everyone elses' premiums up. There is absolutely no way that an insurance company will give you a backdated insurance cover note.
You have been caught and now you must pay the price of driving without insurance. I hope you will learn your lesson and be more responsible in the future. You can count yourself lucky no deaths were involved.

You can't. You shouldn't have been driving with no insurance. However, you can possibly claim direct from the other person's insurance, so you'll need to find out who they're insured with and phone them to make a claim.
Just hope and prey that the other person isn't an idiot like you and decided not to take out insurance.

I don't know any insurance agencies that would do that and it is certainly illegal. You're pretty much screwed with not having insurance for a wreck your fault or not it's still your fault for NOT having insurance. The purpose of insurance is to protect you from people without insurance and who can't drive. Sorry bout your misfortune. :-)

Sorry to upset you, but you can't do that. If the accident was not your fault, then their insurance company should be the ones to pay for your car to be fixed.

You can not purchased car insurance to cover a wreck after the wreck has happened.
You also can not purchase life insurance on someone after they have already died.
Insurance has to be purchased before the event.

You cannot do that, it is called insurance fraud.
The accident WAS your fault for being on the road illegally.
