is the puppy cute??
keep him! haha jk.
post flyer around the neighboorhood's petstores and vets.. maybe some around the lightposts.... don't just try your local shelters too.. a dog's nose can get him far. i heard someone lost their dog and it was found in a neighbooring state... no joke.
maybe the crazy moose had it's collar but somehow got out of it.. take it to see if its microchipped at a shelter or a vet..

a female husky?? well that case. i'm pretty sure no one would want to lose a beautiful dog like that. haha i have one.
trust me, when a husky sees an open door/gate.. it's gone.
definately look for it's parents. i'd die if i lost mine. (haha i checked to make sure you weren't talking about mine!)
if you can't find her mama, keep her. you'll have one beautifull pup!

A local shelter or a vet can scan for a microchip. That would be my first suggestion. If there is none, call ALL of the shelters in your area AND as many veterinarian offices that you can and report finding the dog and a description. Keep the puppy safe in your home. Also check the lost & found section of the newspaper in case his owner put a notice there. You could also walk around your neighborhood and see if anyone lost their dog. If you can't keep this dog yourself be responsible enough to take the time to find it a good FOREVER home. Sadly, puppies and adult and senior dogs, too, get dumped everyday for various reasons. The dogs I have right now are all "found" puppies and they are here to stay. Please be careful about who you hand this dog to if you can't keep it-there are a lot of evil doers who should never have a dog. There are also labs that use dogs for experiments.

You should contact your local shelters Monday morning, also take the puppy to a vet and have it scanned for a chip. I know a few vet clinics in my area that will do this at no charge.

Post flyers around town as well.

Good luck finding the pups owners.

I dont have a lost pup, but if you dont want to get a fine, give it to the local shelter. (make sure it has a no-kill policy) I found a dog once and we got a warning coz we didnt give it to the animal shelter straight away! Put up some adds in your neighbourhood!

Try a local listing like craigslist.com or go to your local animal sheter telling them that you found a dog. They will help you find the dog's owners. Also put up flyers. Give some information, but not enough to where any stranger could claim the dog is his.

Good luck!

If the dog had no license, then it is possible that the pup was just abandoned, keep searching for the owners for a month or so, if an owner doesn't come forth, you can either keep the dog, or give it to the shelter.

Look for posters around your neighborhood close to where you found the puppy. I found a dog and within a week, there were posters up from someone looking for the dog, had a picture of it on the flyer.
I never heard of being punished for finding a dog from the law....???I guess it depends where you live.
