If you had to rewrite the bible to encompass all religions into one main religion what would you keep from each religion christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, Wicca,

Athiests, I know, you'd put it was all crap and I respect that but think about this question as the Nicean counsil had to.

Please, no answers like "nothing the bible is the truth as it is" That will not answer the question and will only be a waste of space and time.

to say it is perfect the way it is is not answering the question I stated that above. If you do not have an intelligent answer then please don't answer.

sorry, not christian so to tell me to fix the book by putting in the lost scriptures so I have the truth is silly, this is not my truth

If you had to choose the best parts of each religion then what would you keep? Thats the question. Not what religion is right or wrong. Or to rewrite christianity. This question is geared to make you look at other relgions with an open mind.

Hey, this fun.... If I were to write a new bible - intended to reach everyone from various religions, here's a short list of things I'd include:

1. The 10 commandments from Christianity.
2. The Buddhist philosophy of life & rebirth.
3. The 5 pillars of Islam (prayers/rituals) for the Muslim.
4. The 8 sabbats in Wicca.
5. Dualism from Taoist, (some) Wiccans, Buddhists, and other religions.
6. Everyone would have a Bat / Bar Mitzvah party to celebrate coming of age from Judiasm.
7. Karma - from Buddhism and Hinduism.
8. Emphasizing the sanctity of Earth and Nature from Neo-Paganism.

I'd call it the "Pangean Bible", for the time when we were all connected as one continent.

1) Don't rely on external powers. You must do it for yourself.
2) Don't explain things on the basis of external judgment. This saps your determination.
3) Understand that the universe does not operate in a binary fashion just because your planet has a day-night cycle.
4) Understand that all of life is inexorably interconnected and don't be fooled by the visual input that creates the false impression of separateness.
5) Get rid of those who seek to ensnare you in guilt and unhappiness. They are serving their own purposes, not your life.
6) Understand that all of life, including the tiniest particle of dust, is continually changing. Do not get attached to circumstances.
7) Do not complain if you don't always find the going easy. Enjoy what there is to enjoy, and suffer what there is to suffer and never forget that your beliefs determine your environment.

After that, have fun.

Wouldn't really be the Bible anymore then... Would it? I keep my views and opinions in this thing called a journal... And i believe them without feeling the need to tell others that they have to believe them too... Not being very eager to pretend to know everything... I think i get you're question though.. If you had to combine all religions what parts of each would you take right? Well, i wouldnt want to combine all religions. One World Religion? I'm not really into that whole conformist black and white ideal.. I like colour myself. I like that there are different cultures, religions, tastes, views in this world.... If we all believed the same thing, the world would seem pretty drab to me.

I'm atheist and all i ask it that they put in all the "lost" scripture back into the d#mned book. At least then you Catholics would get the whole of the story. You're book is incomplete because it does not fit you're perfect little idea of what jesus was like and such and such. Fix the book you have at hand, then try ask what it SHOULD be like.

I would put a disclaimer in the front that warned people that "This is a work of fiction. Not to be taken literally. Contains: Rape, Murder, Incest, Blood, Gore, Profanity, and Blasphemous writings. Overexposure can cause delusional schizophrenia."

I'd make it the shortest book ever - it'd consist of three words. IMO, the most important three words that were in the bible to begin with, anyway:

"Love one another."

Do you really need anything else apart from that?

Christians believe that the bible is the word of God as spoken through the prophets. They believe that the bible is the sole authority and that it interrupts itself. It is how God reveals himself to man.

If you want me to write something other than the bible, fine. But my writing does not reveal God to man, but man to man.

Christians belief is not something you can rewrite.

Answer: You want me to keep something but object when I choose to keep it all. I like to read the whole book.
