or being burnt to death as a human sacrifice like Jephtha's daughter?

Myself, it's so hard to say.
On the one hand being burnt to death is relatively quick when you compare it to being hung on a cross for several hours until your body finally fails you.
But on the other hand, you better believe that fire would hurt you much worse. I mean, have you ever had a small burn before? Just from being burnt by a cigarette produces an extraordinary amount of pain. Can you even imagine what pain is felt as an entire fire consumes your whole body while your alive? And it takes you a minute or two to die?
I Just don't know which I would pick.
All I know is that if someone i know ever makes an ill-conceived pledge to god to offer up a random person as a burnt sacrifice in return for personal success, i hope that god would spare me such a horrible, incomprehensibly painful death despite the ignorance of that person.

The body is set up to help reduce the pain of some horrific things that can happen to it. It is called shock. I would choose the burning death any day because it would be quicker. I also hope that God would provide some endorphins to lessen the pain.

I actually would rather go in my sleep but if my only two choices were burn vs. cross. ... burn on baby.

'Tree' contained in the bible oftentimes ability an upright pole; it extremely is stumbled on contained in the previous testomony too. Crucifixion became common on rebels and bandits, and Jesus, regardless of if convicted under Jewish regulation for blasphemy, became charged in the previous Pilate with revolt and crucified for that crime; that's what the gospel money owed say. it extremely is plausible Jesus became crucified on a stake or a tree. The Romans would use something: a handy tree, a roof-beam, a city gate, the wall of a house. In describing the executions of rebellious Jews after the autumn of Jerusalem, Flavius Josephus says the Romans nailed the sufferers to stakes. yet this would nonetheless be talked approximately as 'held on a tree' in rhetorical speech. in all possibility the 'fish' and 'chi-rho' symbols have been extra basic, however the go became used as a Christian image contained in the early 2nd century, and in all possibility earlier. Minucius Felix mentions it in his 'Octavius', and Tertullian describes the 'sign of the go' nonetheless utilized by using Catholics in 'De Corona'. Catacombs in Rome have been in specific situations marked with 'anchor crosses' somewhat than fish. i don't be attentive to whilst the go began to take priority, yet i've got faith it happened whilst Christian preaching began to emphasise dying over resurrection ... because of the fact the 2nd Coming did no longer ensue and the autumn of civilization did. The Egyptian ankh, the Celtic go and the Persian/Indian go symbols, all older than the Christian one, have been symbols of existence and stability, no longer suffering dying.

Ugh, what a choice.

I suppose I'd have to go with the burning. Yeah, the pain would be unbelievable, but it wouldn't last nearly as long as the pain of crucifixion. You mention hanging on a cross "for several hours", but, actually, most people who were crucified took days to die.

You are borrowing suffering. Whatever death I die as a believer in Jesus, God will be there to help me.

Today I am to be involved in Life, not death. Why not ask a question that will get you input on how to live now instead of worrying about later.

Burned to death as a human sacrifice for two reasons. I don't want my death to be compared to Jesus' death and it's quicker.

I'll take the fire, I imagine my pain receptors would overload and stop working fairly quickly.
