in school i was always made fun of for being the "jew," at my dad's i was constantly rideculed and yelled at, making for a very bad situation. i can remember times i wasn't picked for sports until last just because they din't think I would be good. Now in college, I have very low self esteem. I got involved with the wrong crowd in high school, and did poorly in school as well, getting me into a very crummy college I am currently unhappy at. What should I do? I lack motivation, but I am doing much better in school, thankfully. I want to exercise, but never get around to it, I'd rather sit around.

about 5 years ago, I started to fall into a really depressive episode. At first I thought it was only because I had a bad break from a relationship but the feelings wouldn't go away even after I got a new girlfriend. It was wrecking my life until a point where it was seriously affecting my work and personal life.

She was very worried but at the same time couldn't understand why I was still sad and thought that I still couldn't let go of my previous relationship. Being the wonderful person that she is, she put aside her feelings and suggested I go for psychiatric evaluation. Many months later and even more anti-depressants, I was not coming close to being better at all.

After doing some research online, I found out the real cause as you described it really makes a lot of sense and purchased this program. The results were simply astonishing. I read this book over three times and put all words in action. Using this method, I've kept my depression at bay ever since. Up to date I'm still living happily with my girlfriend.

I was kinda the same way. Whenever I got picked on, or told I had done wrong I took it way too personal. Years down the road, around my 24th birthday this year, I finally had a breakdown and went to my doctor. I told her how I cried a lot, and couldn't figure out why. Nothing made me happy and lots of situations would set me off. I wasn't so much suicidal which she did ask but it was just a question of what is the matter with me. I am now on generic prozac which has done wonders for me. I feel a lot happier, and can take social situations that before I couldn't handle. I believe everyone could use a little counseling every now and again. Maybe you should bring these issues you are having to a doctor because it does sound to me like you do have some depression. And remember, it doesn't mean your a wacko for having to take meds or maybe get a lil counseling. It simply means we need assistance getting back on our feet and figuring some things out. Try taking walks in the mean time, you'd be surprised how much better you feel. It really helps.

First of all you need to forgive yourself for all the ways you think you don't measure up. Maybe you're not perfect, maybe you suck at sports, maybe you picked the wrong crowd... FORGIVE YOURSELF and stop reminding yourself of these things.

Next forgive all the jerks who teased you, so you can forget about them and move forward. They probably aren't thinking about you now, so why think about them?

Next make a list of your strengths. Ask a friend or family member to help you if you need it to come up with as many as you can. I bet you have a lot of good qualities!

Then set goals for yourself. Where do you want to be in 6 months? 1 year? 5 years? Write down what you will need to do each day to get there.

You could also be depressed, which could be affecting your ability to think clearly. Talk to your doctor about it.

good luck!

You have found the cure already - as you say " but I am doing much better in school" and again "I want to exercise".

You already have the motivation within.
Follow internet. - lots of motivational thoughts will cheer you up.

You got the correct reasons of your low self-esteem.

The best motivation is definitely within one's self.
Auto-suggestion will definitely drag you up.

It seems that you are certainly a good judge yourself. You have a good self-evaluation.
Your deeds, your struggle, faith in yourself, will to exercise will certainly raise your self esteem.

Motivation - is also my favorite subject. I can certainly help you as far as my abilities go.

to fight depression you have to have three things in your life and it changes very fast.

You have to exercise every day.
You have to eat very good. not crap, too much or too little. Just a good 3 time a day meal with water.
get rest. Not passing out in a chair, but going to bed and sleeping well.

That is all it takes to start feeling really good and then you start making correct decisions and could care less what others say or think.
