Blood in the toilet after a bowel movement is ALWAYS something that should be investigated. Depending upon your age and the color of the blood there are a number of things it could be. Bright red blood typically means that there is bleeding from somewhere lower in the digestive tract, such as the rectum or anus. If you're a younger person the most likely cause of bright red blood is hemmorhoids or a tear in the lining of the anus, called an anal fissure, but it could also be caused by intestinal infection, inflammatory bowel disease, a tumor, colon polyps or colon cancer. Dark red blood, often with a tarry appearance, usually comes from higher up in the digestive tract, such as the esophogus or stomach and may indicate an ulcer, stomach inflammation, trauma, or a lack of blood flow to the intestines.
See your doctor as soon as possible. Rectal bleeding is usually evaluated with a colonoscopy to allow the physician to see your intestines. If the cause is not immediately apparent you may require further testing.

don't worry about being graphic ... if this is really as bad as you say, you need to see a doctor without delay. being scared is not going to help but getting an expert opinion (probbably only possible with a doctor visit) is the only thing that will put you at ease and start towards solving the underlying problem. if you are worried about either time or money required for a doctor visit, remember the old saying "a stitch in time saves nine" ... definately true in this case. I tend to guess hemorrhoids becuase I usually start with the least serious and most likely cause but this sounds like it could be more serious.
this really needs a lot more information than you are giving to answer correctly (like do you have any other symptoms such as bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, etc., itchin or pain around the "exit"). is what you are seeing in the toilet really blood? (what it looks like and what it is might be different ... blood that looks like blood probably means it is something in the colon ... do do you have diarrhea or have you been diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrom or Chrons disease?)
only real advice ... get to a doctor and have this checked out ... a GP or PCP (general practioner or family doctor) should be fine.
good luck!!

there are 2 types of blood in the stool. If you see bright red blood in your stool or in the toilet it is always lower Intestinal blood being from your lower bowel like a hemorrhoid and nothing to worry about except adding fiber to your diet to soften your stool so it doesn't cause an irritation to the rectum. The really serious conditions are if you see black tarry blood in your stool, which is digested blood and usually indicative of more serious problems. A handful of Crackling oat bran cereal in the morning will help regulate your bowels if bright red.

you have hemorrhoids, my friend...
drink lots of water, and make sure you are getting enough fiber so that you don't get constipated (sorry for the graphics). you should probably mention to the doctor the next time you go. and depending on your age, he may want to do a colonoscopy, just to be on the safe side, especially if you have a history of colon cancer in the family. But don't get freaked out, this is common, even when it looks like alot of blood.
since this had been an ongoing problem, you can most likely rule out salmonella and E. coli... parasites generally don't cause bleeding. And YES, hemorrhoids CAN cause alot of bleeding. if you had a GI bleed, you would be throwing up what looks like coffee grounds.

I really don't think that it is hemmrhoids simply because you would not have a stool full of blood if it was...You have a GI bleed going on, and you need to go to the ER as soon as you can. If you lose too much blood it could be bad news.
I wish you luck..

All sorts of things come to mind
and none of them good.
Please go to the ER
there may be a tear in your anal cavity,
you may have ruptured something,
intestinal wall ulcers, cancer,
like I said, all sorts of things.
By the way, you can possibly
bleed to death, just in case you didn't know this.
You are probably anemic by now.
You may be bleeding internally as well.
I don't mean to scare you,
but you do need to take this very seriously.

It could be hemorrhoids, fissures, polyps or cancer. Rectal bleeding must always be checked out by a doc so go see your doc ASAP and get checked. It could be nothing but rectal bleeding is one of the warning signs for cancer so it cannot be ignored.
