good energy is the spark, the feeling of instant compatability and you feel like "lovestruck"; being happy with the person
hormone thing is the compatability physically, like how your smells affect your attractions to each other (we are just animals); also hormones maybe physical as in lust or sexual attraction

either the man or woman first visually inspect someone (usually) of the opposite sex, if they like what they see they secrete some hormone or other, and if this happens to the other person as well, especially if its simultaneous.... you have chemistry

Lust, pure and simple, caused by hormones. And personally, I think it's highly over-rated if you want longevity. Look for shared values instead.
