My dog was attacked by a pit bull. IT would not let go of him for nothing(keep in mind this is a little dog). For ten minutes this pit had a hold of my dogs neck, and swinging him around like a rag doll..we knew he was dead. My husband hit the pit over the head five times with a sledge hammer, and it did not budge, then finally threw water on them, and it let go, they left to haul the pit off. I looked outside to see if I could find my dog, he was laying there, and surprisingly he was breathing, but not moving. My husband got home about 15 mins later, and said if he's alive it wont be long til he dies. By this time my dog was up moving around, but the blood was pouring from his neck. We got him immediate help once we realized he was up and getting around quite well. We got him on antibiotics, and pain medicine, put peroxide on his wounds several times daily. This was over a month ago, and my dog is now alive and kick'n it well!!!! We now call him our miracle dog!!!

My little boston (who was 5months at the time) survived a full grown Dobbie attack. They were playing at first, and suddenly my friends dog, grabbed my boston by the back of the neck and the mood changed, the dobbie was flailing my boston all over and my friend and I couldn't get him away from him. I thought for sure his neck was broken, that was what the Dobbie was trying to do.

Finally the Dobbie gave him another hard shake and flipped him over his head, we rushed to my boston, and my friend finally got her dog. My boston landed on his back, all 4 legs were sticking staight out, ridgid and he was whimpering. I gave him a warm bath and washed the poop, blood and pee off him.

His condition stayed the same, so minutes later I rushed him to the Doggie ER. They x-rayed him and said all he had was some swelling over hips, and that nothing was broke, only thing we had to worry about was nerve damage due to the swelling. The vet sent us home with a heavty bill and meds.

Today his is running and jumping fine, still abit akward with his back legs, but no pain and full mobility. He loves his big dog buddies and doesn't hold a grudge..... I still do.

Yes, I've had a similar experience. One of my parents' dogs escaped from the house and headed straight to the backyard of another neighbor, which had a rather vicious dog. Parents' dog is sweet, but not very bright. The other dog attacked our little guy, who was torn up pretty severely. Had to have surgery, and had tubes sticking out of him for some time. But he made a 100 percent recovery, amazingly enough. You'd never know to look at him today what he had been through. Have no idea the breed of the other dog (which was put down)

Something similar happened to my dog he has been attacked by alsatian... horrible wounds and the first vet we took him to didnt know his a** from his elbow stupid idiot... anyhow when I saw the dog wasnt getting better we took him to the vet we usually go to and he managed to save him... he was a brink of sepsis... with antibiotics and cleaning up his wounds, it did take a while, but this was years ago and hes alive and well :)
The only thing that happened from all of the antibiotics his stomach got a bit sensitive, so we have changed his diet...
Anyhow, I'm glad your dog is alive and doing great :)

WOW WOW WOW. You are so lucky. I now know why they dont let pit bulls into animal shelters or kennels. No this has never happened to my pets (actually I dont have any!!!) and hopefully never will (Im getting a German Shepherd) but your dog is truly a miracle dog.

I had a female cat that was attacked by my female German Shepherd. She evenually lost one leg because it was broken in two places and the vet thought it was better to amputate her leg. She also had her stomach ripped up as well. There were a lot of stitches on her belly.
She survived several more years. I had her spayed to make sure that she did not become pregnant.

I am so happy for you that your dog is ok!! Pit bulls are horrible dogs that should never have been, and should not be, bred. They are just aggresive horrible things and no one should have one of those dogs.
