I'm a doubter and an infidel but one thing that concerns me about my mental health is the question as to whether a convert has to give up all his old ways even healthy pastimes etc. I mean it. I'm not being smart.

I mean did you try to keep God's ways only but give up your own ways. If a Christian or someone who knows would be kind enough to answer.

I became a Christian on November 14, 1982. Over the past 25 years I have grown as a person & as a Christian. The gift of salvation that God gave me through His Son Jesus had one requirement.... That I accept His gift. I am GRATEFUL that I accepted it! I had many preconcieved notions,(unfortunately due to many "Christians" & their judgements) & thought ALOT about what I had to do once I became a Christian. I did put myself under pressure to "pray the RIGHT prayers", and "be" a Christian. I was missing the point. The changes in my life came as I read & studied the Bible, prayed from my heart & allowed God to work in my life. The day I became a Christian the only thing I gave up was all of my excuses & came to God just as I was!
I appreciate your question.

By old ways - what do you mean?
My sin? What I thought was sin? Therein lies the problem. What is sin? Some stuff is pretty obvious. The Lord has a nifty way of letting us know what is right and wrong. He sets feelings of guilt and shame fall upon us like the weight of the world. I was living my life and I didn't think I was hurting anybody. The greatest hurt I was inflicting upon myself. For that I thank God. I did not bring babies into the world. I did not hurt others but the inflicted wounds will take years to heal. Ever hear the story of the nails in the fence? Every time you do something wrong pound a nail in the fence. Then, repent of your ways and in your new life remove one of those nails every time you do a good thing. Pretty soon your fence will be all clean but will be full of unrepairable holes. You cannot go back. You can only start today and STOP putting in the nails. We are all walking wounded. Pray that you can find the strength and courage to stand up to God and for God. He will bless you in ways you cannot grasp.

I became a Christian at 31 - I am 49 now.
No .. I have a lot of fun - I go out with my wife, take my kids to movies, read, even have a glass of wine with dinner. Our church had an event for Halloween and we gave out candy, kids dressed up and played games and danced. I have more fun now because I have an assurance in my life and am not looking for answers and doing stupid things (getting high, talking dirty) to try to cover what I was missing.
I work hard and when work is done - have fun. I hope my life is a model for kids, my wife , co-workers - that is a great feeling. But I will tell the truth - I couldn't do it on my own, it is the presence of God in my life. I also got my Master's Degree and became a teacher a year ago - and I love it.

human beings say yet they are no longer being bodily violent. great harm can comprise out the violence. Sexual toddler abusers oftentimes are not physcially violent. yet they deeply violate. They "love" their little ones into finished oblivion. We stated NO. And NO skill NO. they could no longer call themselves Jews in any form. for people who believe they have a clean faith, they could no longer use our call. only then will they finally be including a clean (or redeveloped) faith to the international. For 2000 years Christians have not respected letting Jews stay AS JEWS. they have tried FORCING us to function Jesus to our faith. Now they do it via calling themselves us. that's relatively only presently that Christianty's superior geninue appreciate for us. yet, now that's the make or harm deal. Will in addition they "get" this? ================== To different Jewish individuals: i'm thinking no count if that's time all of us have been given extra useful at verbalizing the specifics "one liner" recommendations of anti-semitism & all started pointing them out, so human beings can finally see what even some good individuals do no longer understand they are thinking. i do no longer think of human beings understand what anti-semitism sounds like previous the severe. i ask your self as a Jewish community if we've been frozen from doing sufficient -- because of the fact we are nonetheless soaking up the previous & attempting to no longer "go there". ============ Cool So your agreeing they are objective is popping Jews into Christians. So, calling themselves Jews is a lie. They weren't "Judah's for Jesus" back then. They have been describe extra as "no longer Jews - exploring a clean faith, or perplexed Jews exploring a clean faith" till they accompanied a popularity for themselves, Christians. I wager they have been proud of their new call.
