mash the fleshy area between thumb and forefinger until it hurts a bit, continue doing this for a while. this will release endorphins which will temporarily give some relief.

Stretching and Strengthening!
Work out posture. Make sure you imagine your head's being pulled up by a string. You'll notice a big difference.
Also consider working on your Upper Trapezius via Massage, Stretching or Trigger Point Therapy.
This Muscle tends to cause problems further up the neck, to the front of the head and even give people tooth aches.
It also gets built up big when someone has bad posture.
Chin tucking exercises help to strengthen the correct muscles in the neck as well.

My fathers head hurt real bad for over 30 years. Then by accedent they found it. A tumor growing deep withing the brain. Get him to a doctor and find out why, and push the issue until you get answers. Pills cover up an issue of pain, not get rid of it. My father past away 3 months after it was found. Found early enough he might still be with us.

Please have him see a Dr. It could be something easy to clear up or it could be a brain tumor but get help fast so he does not have to put up with such terrible pain.
I pray God's comfort and healing according to His plan and purpose.Only a Dr. can diagnose what is wrong and a simple CAT scan is probably all that is needed and they are totally painless and takes only minutes. If he fights going to a dr. ask him if he'd rather live with the pain rather than find the cause and be rid of it if possible? He needs help. Our bodies try to tell us something. We need to listen.

Instead of meds you think of Alternatives is wise decision.
It would have been precise if you would have given some other details like alcohole habit, work nature, eating habit and other symptoms.
There is no medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for almost all painful diseases like RA, Back ache, earache etc. Hence they become chronic.
Acidity, WORRY, sadness, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation; drug side effects, stress, bad smell, TV & COMPUTER SOMETIMES,
Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine. Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.
Acupuncture is the best treatment.
I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.
Pain killers don't treat the pain but we loose the sense of pain for some time; in that duration our body itself treats sometime and credit goes to meds.
These useless drugs have enormous power to create hazardous side effects like liver/kidney failure, ulcer, acidity adn lot others.
Avoid late sleeping if possible; worry, spicy foods, sour fruits, stale bakery foods and alcohole.
Sweet foods, COCOANUT WATER,sweet fruits, milk, rice, SPROUTS, SALADS and good sleep will help you if cough is not there.
But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves' juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it is very strong.
Pl search a painful point 3-6 mm behind your thumb nail and press it, H/A will disappear within 30 seconds!

if it is a good ole fashioned migraine, try lying down in a dark quiet room, and maybe trying an ice pack wrapped in a couple paper towels and putting it on his forehead or even the back of his neck. If it is bad enough you need to take him to ER or call a doctor. Does he take any blood pressure meds?? Any heart problem history? Call a doc.

A cool cloth on his forehead and have him lay down in a dark, quiet room. Sometimes a light snack can help as well.
If his headache is severe and he has medical conditions, have your mom or another adult take him to Urgent Care.

He might have a migraine. Have him put a bag of ice on his head. He should go to the Chiropractor for an adjustment. He might have lots of stress build up on his neck. Good luck!

I get serious migraines. and I'm allergic to aspirin. so I take two tylenol and apply some pressure to my head with my arm, make sure the room is completely dark and quiet. So maybe just sleep?
unless he hit it....in which he should go see a doctor.

If the pain is chronic he should go see a doctor.
One of my friends has chronic headaches too and she goes to a chiropractor for neck adjustments, apparently her neck vertebrae is resting on one the central nerves. she goes to chiropractor once a months and has been pain free since.
