Go to the authorities, if not, they may come to you first. There are tracking systems used by law enforcement agencies to "catch" those downloading &/or distributing child pornography. If you are indeed innocent, but it is on YOUR computer, then your undesirable roomates could have been setting you up. I've known of two incidences where employees at my workplace were caught in this same manner and yes, CONVICTED. So call the police immediately and get this resolved legally. Use it as evidence against the roomates. And it is a myth that you can delete it all from your computer. If you have it on there and your computer has been traced, they CAN get it off your hard drive. Do something NOW before it's too late. On the flip side...I don't fully trust people who claim to be innocent about this heinous subject. ...just remember what I wrote. There are special task groups that monitor child pornography. Thank god!

I think I would actually call a lawyer. The chances are slim that if you report this matter to the police that you would be blamed for it, but there is a chance. Let a legal representative report it for you and protect your innocence.

report it like the others say. It's up to the community (one person at a time) to start getting involved. Waiting around and ignoring it means you tolerate it. Say NO to Child Porn

Well, I'm not a lawyer, but, unless you can actually prove that it was them who downloaded it, then you should just delete the crap. Better yet, reformat your hard drive. Otherwise, if you can prove that it was them instead of you, you should report it to the authorities immediately.

In the future, keep your computer to yourself. No "community" computer. Let each person get their own computer. A Personal Computer (PC) is a very personal thing. Keep it that way.

It's very risky to report it because the police will try and blame you if you cannot prove it was the room mates. You risk your freedom for doing the right thing.
I'd anonymously report it, maybe you can find the download site or what program they downloaded it from and report and then get rid of the computer and/or give that computer to your former roommates and tell them they are lucky you aren't reporting them.

Report it to the police because if they do a crack down and find that crap on the pc inside your place, you are the one getting the heat and federal charges.

They punish to the full extent of the law for that, nothing to mess around with.

That's a good question, because if you take it in to a computer repair shop or to the Geek squad to get it cleaned up, how do you prove it's not your porn? How can you protect yourself from prosecution while you're trying to get rid of it?

mmmmmmmmmmm my first reaction is to call the police; but perhaps you could be inplicated. I know that deleting things COMPLETELY from your hard drive is nearly impossible, so you have a complex problem if they are ever cited for this crime and it comes back to you.
I can afford legal assistance, and would seek it, if you cannot, then I would contact some legal aid group.

call the cops and report them and turn over your hard drive as evidence against them
their is no deleting it, it will always be on there unless you know how to wipe it out, just deleting it means its no longer active and using space but its still there and can be recovered and pieced back together
