It might not be wrong to be honest, but it IS wrong to be tactless and/or rude, which you were. There is such a thing as internet etiquette, and maybe you should search engine it. Even if people can't see your face, be polite and respectful. You never know who could be on the other end. Would YOU like it if someone insulted you or said "You can't sing," rather than using constructive criticism?

Well I was going to say there is nothing wrong saying your honest opinion that's how I am too:) but in this case I don't think I wouldn't have said anything I hope you didn't do it rudely it sounds like there is something mentally wrong with her!Of course I wouldn't tell HER that because I love to sing and I love it when people love to sing to feel good. If she asked for my opinion, that's a whole different story,I'd have to be honest with her. To answer your Q we don't know if she is sick, so I'd have to say you didn't do anything wrong and there is no reason why you should be banned from the website.

You were wrong. It is okay to be honest all the time, but it is usually rude to offer unwanted criticism like going around telling people they cannot sing, are ugly, or are stupid, even if they are. If they ask, then by all means let them hear the honest truth, not with insults and jokes, but with reasons or even suggestions for improvement. Sometimes it is proper etiquette to point out things with constructive criticism or where the solution is obvious and you are showing you are acting in their best interest, like telling them their fly is open or their shoe is untied.

You should keep your rude comments to yourself! I just visited that site after reading your question and those people singing whether you like it or not are having fun, some taking it seriously, and doing what they consider to be their best tries. How would you feel if someone commented on your singing ability poorly? I could comment on your communicating ability as poor!
I think you should be banned; if everyone gave rude comments about others performances there probably wouldn't be sites like that anymore. Yahoo chat room is where you should be

It would be wrong to tell her she can sing if she can't, but being honest does not in any way entitle you to point out flaws in someone just because that is your honest opinion. Let's say for example you are fat and I see you walking down the street. You are morbidly obese. You know it because you weigh yourself, I know it because I know what a fat broad looks like. Do you want me to point it out to you? Say to your face "You're fat"? I'm just being honest. Perhaps you have such bad acne that your face looks like it caught fire and someone beat out the flames with a track shoe. Should I be honest and say your face looks like a pepperoni pizza? Here is what you should do. From the time you read my answer until the day you die. Keep your honest opinions to yourself and stfu. Do you know what stfu means? I bet you do. I have a 17 year old stepson just like you and it pisses me off every time he criticizes anyone who doesn't like the same movie or TV show or music or activity that he does. He says the same crap you do. "I'm just being honest". Fk honest. People do more emotional damage to other people by vocalizing their honest negative opinions than by any other means.

Honesty is the best policy in life. Always be true to yourself. To state something that you don't believe in, is wrong to you. You are free spirited and sweetheart didn't your mom always teach you that if you are feeling that something you do or say is wrong then it most likely is and it is always about making good choices in life. To have good judgement in your life I think that demonstration of honesty is a plus factor don't you. Good luck. Keep singing, you know music keeps your soul rockin'

No, but etiquette still applies.
You shouldn't say anything to anyone that you wouldn't say in real life.
However, the internet is a great place to share your ideas, opinions etc. Instead of 'telling' her she couldnt sing, you should just say it lightheartedly or give constructive critisism.
Hope that helped.

I just wanted to add something I forgot. What I said to her was this. "Is there anything else you're good at? Like writing because my significant other just yelled at me to turn that **** off!"

It can often depend on the situation, but one can be deeply hurt being told they can't sing when they so strongly believe they can.
