Try going here http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/americanbulldog.htm it has a lot of information dogs by breed, drool amount, noise makers, dominance, etc. Also a quiz that can also be helpful when narrowing down your choices.

You should also rethink your feelings toward adopting a dog. If the anxiety of some of the rescue dogs is too much for you, look into some rescues that foster their dogs. Many of them are more socialized and have been housetrained, because they are living with people not in cages. Rescue a dog, save two lives.

Miniature Bull Terrier. This breed, however, needs firm handling and lots of exercise. Bear in mind that all dogs should get 30 minutes of exercise, minimum.

I'm not going to try to persuade you to go to a shelter, since you seem too stubborn to change your mind. I will, however, caution you against buying from pet shops or irresponsible breeders. Buy from reputable breeders ONLY. Learn to tell the difference here:

The initial cost of the dog is more expensive, yes. But you will save a lot on health and behavioural problems later.

things to note in picking a dog:
- the smaller the dog, the noisier it gets and the more that it is a bit difficult to train than a bigger dog (except for akita)
- the larger the dog, the more space and time to walk and play with him/ her
- then you need to know the issues in every breed, all breed has an issue, bigger dog have a pelvic/ bone issue; some dogs are prone to a particular disease, which you can counter by feeding him certain food supplements
- a pomeranian shed at least 2x a year, i think. a schnauzer does not sheds hair, like human hair, it grows and you need to cut it to maintain it
- then it is also a plus to watch cesar millan's videos, like he said that dogs are different from humans, and the earlier you get it right, the earlier you'll have peace with your dog

Well i think a Jack russel terrier would be good for you

they are tough and active
sweet
can be easy to train
easy to find breeders (i dont recommend)
also easy to find at shelters

i suggest looking in a dog book and looking over personalitys too

Good luck i hope this helps

No more so than any other dog. All they need is a new home, someone to love them and someone who will give them the guidance and training they need.

Rescue and safe a life...remember..love breeds love and kindness breeds kindness...give a shelter dog a chance at a wonderful new life...if you were in a cage, you would act crazy too.

Have you even given a shelter a try? I got my girl from a shelter and every day I cannot believe that someone would drop her off there! She is so sweet and loving, and I am so thankful that I got her; she is my angel!

Shelter. Dare I recite my hatred to those who dont go there again? Most of the dogs in shelters DIE for being "too crazy". Their only suffering from anxiety in those shelters, once their free their awesome trust me. Save another dog from death, come on. What if it was you in there?
