Those who had to move around and such. Was there a typical job they had that would allow them to masquerade as some kind of military role?

I was thinking not in the United States but countries that have such roles.

You may be thinking of CID which is like police internal affairs. anyone doing INTERNAL military intelligence would be from the Military Police. If you are thinking spys that's mostly the CIA and the job would very based on mission criteria but could be things such as reporter, health or aid worker. Sometimes they have embasy jobs. The only Unit in the army that would have someone undercover overseas would be delta force and their cover would be mission dependant
