I recently went to a pizza place to eat. My sister and I went. If you have to seat yourself, go to the counter and order plus pay your bill and then go back and pick your food up do you think you should be obligated to tip? We even had to clear our own table off. I work in retail and wait on customers all day. If I go out I want to be seated, give my order at the table, receive my food from the waiter/waitress and let them clear my table. Am I being unreasonable? What would you do in this situation?

I wouldn't tip in a situation like that, and I think you are completely reasonable to expect service when you go out.

What would I do. Definitely NOT leave a tip.

I don't even leave tips at buffets when all the waitress does is bring me my drink and my bill.

Now, if she actually does some work and does a good job, then yes, leave a tip, but for the situation you described...definitely do NOT.

I would not tip in that situation.

If a waiter/waitress wants a tip then the minimum services that should be provided at the restaurant are
1) waiter/waitress takes your order
2) waiter/waitress brings you your food

That sounds like pretty much a fast food place, so no. Who would you even tip anyway if there was no wait person to wait on you?

Of course you should not tip. It's obvious to most people that you shouldn't. You did all the work!

However, the self-righteous tipping nazis will be in here shortly demanding that you tip at the pizza place.

Do you tip people at McDonald's? I hope not. If it is basically a self serve restaurant then tipping is not required. Especially the place you described.

I do not tip more then 10% at a self serve / buffet. I would not tip at all if I had to clean the table I was going to sit at.

I don't think that you are under any obligation to tip if nobody waited on you. I wouldn't tip if it were me.

For the service you just described, I'd say no tip is required.
