I want to believe in God. But part of me is incapable of believing. I am so skeptical of God, I can't make up my mind if he's real or not. I want to believe so bad. I am afraid that if I don't believe in God, that maybe he will be real and I won't be allowed into Heaven. I asked my mom why she believes, and she told me "Faith". For some reason I lack it. I am afraid that my time will be up before I am able to contain it. And that I might get punished by God. How can I find faith? How did you find yours?

It's not that I haven't read the Bible or gone to church before; it's that I just can't believe.

I don't know where I can find my faith but I don't think it's in a church or a bible.

If you want to find faith, stop looking. Having faith is simply that, believing in something you don't yet understand. It's ok to question faith, as blind faith may not be the best answer either.

Don't worry about what others think you should do, find the path that your life leads you to and follow it!

I personally am I an atheist, and I have faith in society and humanity.

Well, hello there, Well Hello There!
It's easy to know who God is from a human perspective if you have not known God yet. He is everything that is beyond human understanding. The sun and moon rise and set. The rains come and plants grow, bear fruit and fade and renew themselves. An infinite and endless number of things happen without any help from humans. Some things we know why and how they happen, but a lot of things are still a mystery to us. That's God. People have realized this for thousands of years, that there is something greater than or outside of human experience. This might be a good place for you to start. After a while you realize that God is all around us, in the things we take for granted (but should be thankful for). Eventually, this becomes the God of your Understanding. So in this way, it would be easy for you, for example, to have faith that the sun and moon are going to rise and there will be a new day and night for you. That's really all it is, just go from there and you'll have all the faith you'll need.

Faith doesn't have to be some kind of esoteric, weird supernatural, spiritual thing, although it can be for those that are into that sort of thing. Faith can be just a very real expression of your everyday living.

If you are faithful in the things you are responsible for everyday, and are helpful to yourself and others, God will see that and he might just be thankful for you. It is also good to try and not blame God if bad things happen or to think that you are being punished by God - it just isn't so. Believe me, it won't be God that punishes you. A lot of times we punish ourselves too much.

Hope this helps and God bless you in your faith!!!

As for me, I found faith just by being around a lot of faithful people early on. For some reason, I identified with this faith and have grown from it over the years. Faith has become an important part of my life. There are a lot of very faithful and God-based people that don't have anything to do with any church or religious books. They just believe in God and go from there. It sounds like you are one of these people. Don't worry about having a side of you that you feel is incapable of believing, or skeptical of God, or feeling like you sometimes do not have faith. It is good to rely on what you know is real - that is actually part of your faith too - God acknowledges people living in the real world too, you know?

Well, again, hope all this helps and God bless you in your faith!!!

I'm an atheist, and I know what you're going through. I was worried that I was doing the wrong thing when I was losing my faith. Before you go trying to find your faith again, try learning something about atheism.

It's overhyped, but still a great book -- try reading "The God Delusion." Another good one is "Letter to a Christian Nation." Maybe you'll see that your skepticism isn't so misguided after all.

You've got to test it. Faith starts out very small. It is something that you have to find with in yourself. I know that you receive no witness until after the trial of your faith. Faith is an action word. You don't say you have faith you show it by doing. Try living your life according to what God has asked you to do. Pray to Him. Don't be afraid to ask any question. He is waiting for you to come to Him. He is a loving parent. He wants the best for you just like your earthly parents do I'm sure. But you have to put forth the effort. Pray to understand who He is and what He wants for you. Pray for the faith and courage that maybe you can't find on your own. That is a good place to start.

Get a King James Bible and slowly read it from the beginning.

If the geologies are too much skip them but learn about the nature of God,
that is where you get your faith.

Faith does not come from your feelings or on a ray of sunshine
(no sarcasm intended ). I am not talking about just reading in the Bible, I mean READ the Bible. To have faith in something you need to know about it. The only safe place to learn of God is in His Word.

If your issue is whether Christ is really God here is a great book that is full of historical facts relating to the resurrection and many other concerns about the Christian faith.

It is a very good read, not too technical. There is also a vol. 2

I hope this helps

Faith is believing but you have not seem Him.

Stay in the word of God daily, and certainly make your prayer to God at least in the A.M and P.M.

Praise Him out loud when you are at home or where ever you may feel like it.

Don't be afraid. God will never make fun of you when you tell Him that you are skeptical.

Fear is something Satan loves it because it will keep you chained to him, don't allow it. Tell Jesus what you want to do and He will do His part if you in return do like-wise.

Have faith in yourself, be a good person and do the best you can. You won't find faith in a book or a building. What is faith going to mean to you if someone is telling you to believe it or you go to Hell?
Have faith in yourself- it's the best place to start.

First, dont be scared! If you're scared, you might con yourself into believing when you really dont. Second, read.. ALOT. Read different religious texts, web pages, etc. Eventually you should find the right path for yourself and develop faith. You cant force it, but as long as you want to have faith, youll find the right path for you.

In Mark 9:14-27 a father comes to Jesus asking him to help his son.
"... if you are able to do anything, have pity on us and help us." Jesus said to him, "If you are able! -- All things can be done for the one who believes." Immediately, the father of the child cried out, "I believe; help my unbelief!"

Faith comes from God, and the good news is that God wants to give us this gift. Matthew 7:11: "If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!" Pray and ask for faith, and ask others to pray for you!
