I remember learning last year about ancient China having a two children only Population Law. Can anyone give me more information on that?

I`m trying to connect it to the Population Law in Among the Hidden, by Margaret Haddix.

I don't know much about ancient China, I know a lot about from when the Japaneses invaded in 1937 up until now.
If you wondering about the children's policy: well I'm sure you know they have the one child policy. This is still there but if you were a single child you are allowed to have 2 kids. in addition If you don't live in a big city like Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenyang etc. (basically if you live in a rural area) then you are allowed to have one kid and if that kid is a girl, you are allowed another one. If this one is a girl then too bad so sad (because I'm sure you also know that boy are valued more because of the 'family name' thing) that is that. Ethnic Minorities like the Hui, Zhuang, Mongols etc. are allowed to have as many children as they please.
China has always had problems with population that I can tell you.

I have never heard of that. For the last several decades, China has had a one child policy. In the past, Chinese families were usually very large.
