Is it a problem to hook up to local cable or do I need to buy something extra?

Sorry maybe I wasn't clear enough. I now have cable and wanted to know if it is complicated to hook up to an LCD tv?

You just connect it like your OLD TV...

When you want HD SIGNALS, get the CABLE BOX.

While the other people were right in hooking up your tv I would like to warn you about CABLE tv.

Cable tv is not nearly as good as either Direct TV or Dish Network. The WORST picture you will get from either of these is 480 lines. (progressive dvd quality). Where Cable tv still runs programs at 230 lines of resolution at times.

Of course the high def content is the same either way, not everything is in high def yet.

Right now Direct TV has 74 high def channels with plans to have over 100 by xmas. Cable tv doesnt even have half that many.

Hope this helps

No, it's not a problem.

All current LCD TV's have NTSC (analog) tuners built into them. Plugging in your local cable or even antenna will give the same result as it does on your current TV.

Most LCD TV's manufactured today even include digital tuners (ATSC) for displaying over the air high-definition programming or the unencrypted channels through digital cable (this is called QAM tuning).

If you have you any type pay tv you have nothing to worry about you can buy any lcd and it will work because the pay tv company will provide the tuner. If you are going to hook up to an antenna and watch broadcast tv you have to make sure you are buying a tv that have a built in tuner. They do not all come with built in tuners.
