One of my teachers used to tell me when I was very young that people who weren't Christian would go to either Hell or purgatory. But my father believes in Christ and everything that Christians believe in! If he isn't officially Christian, what is taught about that? :-/

He's a great person, and he helps the poor, and preaches the good news, and helps people to be better themselves.
And for you that made the horrible jewish comment, that was horrible and heartless.

What kind of school did you go too?!?!? ....well lets put it like this .... Jesus was a jew... does that mean he went to hell? God loves you right? Would HE send you to hell because you didn't worship a particular relegion? No, because he is understanding. I do not know anything about relegion really, but I do believe there is a verse in that bible that goes something like, "Love thy neighbor?" So, no matter what, you are supposed to love and respect them. Doesn't matter what their relegion is, who they are, what they do, or sexual orientation. God has no room for hate/disrespect in heaven.

It doesn't sound like there is a problem. God is bigger and better than any one religion. I am concerned at what your teacher told you, because we can't make big statements about who is going to Hell, Purgatory or Heaven. We have to learn to let the matter rest with God. It doesn't sound like your Father is a bad person. We all need forgiveness, and it sounds like your Father is worshipping God. God is not the God of the Jews, or of the Christians or of the Muslims, but of all mankind. "In Christ there is neither Jew nor Greek."
Hope that sets your mind at rest. Remember to pray about this too if it will make you feel better.
Peace
LB

Don't get hung up on the name Christian. It is just that a name. What did Jesus ask of people? He asked that they acknowledge him as the promised Messiah and that they repent and yield to him as the King of Kings, King of the Universe.

Many Jewish people who believe in Yeshua as the Messiah don't want to be called Christian, and rightly so. The Jewish people have suffered much persecution in the name of Christianity. Christians in Spain tried to forcibly convert Jews to Christianity during the Spanish Inquisition. Hitler claimed to be Christian and put the words 'Christ killers' over the gas chamber doors. During the Crusades thousands of Jews were slaughtered by Christians. The list goes on...
Is it any wonder your Father would not want to call himself a Christian? Why should he deny his heritage to acknowledge the Messiah that it prophesied?

i think of you misunderstood what Jesus replaced into asserting. He replaced into asserting that the guy who replaced into burying the ineffective man or woman replaced into spiritually ineffective and because he replaced into putting burying his father first previously Christ. yet all of his teachings state that there is an afterlife. keep in mind he pronounced, "In my Father's domicile are many mansions. i pass and get ready a place for you so as that the place i'm you would be able to additionally be." His teachings on an afterlife are the muse for him installation the hot covenant, that by way of his sacrifice on the pass, we are in a position to be forgiven and now stay ceaselessly with him in heaven.

The subject of life after death is always touchy, but more or less, it's a personal thing, not an organized religion thing. Your father's belief in the afterlife is probably a separate issue from his belief in Jesus, his nature and his teachings. As far as the afterlife is concerned, Heaven is supposed to await those who have lived a good and virtuous life, regardless of their religion or beliefs. (at least that's how I think about it)

There is no afterlife. Sorry. So you don't have to worry about it. Your teacher was wrong to scare you about beliefs in non-existent entities like Christ and God. Many otherwise good people are confused about this themselves, and as a result they believe it is a good thing to scare children by telling them stories.

He is a Messianic Jew and I thinks that's great. You can have a relationship with Christ but still be able to embrace some aspects of your heritage. If he has accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior than he is truly saved.

If he believes in Jesus, and believes in everything that Christians believe in, then that makes him an official Christian. Unofficially of coarse.
