With some of them English may not be their native tongue and those we have to cut a bit of slack.
But I do fear that part of the problem is the culture of so many of today's youth, generation self-esteem who expects the world to adjust to them and their spelling among other things.
It doesn't work that way people!

Why are there so many people who don't know how to use punctuation properly? A question mark follows the question immediately - no space! In 'Additional Details', 'there' should begin with a capital 'T'! 'English' needs a capital letter!
Some people may be dyslexic, and others may just be poor at spelling. Not everyone who 'can't spell' is 'uneducated'.
Don't worry, I have spell-checked my answer!
*Edit: Regarding negativity - I'm sure there are as many positive people! We can't all be optimists, all of the time!

We'll thank you for the heads up. But as a educated student of an American school and as a writer: I would love to mention the fact that many who use Yahoo Answers are not just from America (probably the most common English country) , so to write as a U.S citizen would be unlikely. I would also like to point out the fact that many ages use this website, thus slang is the most commonly used. I am under the age of 20 and if I shorten words its not because I am ignorant to my native language... it is because I like to be young and not seem like a aged stuck-up adult. But I agree with spell check if the topic of discussion is serious. Thanks for the question.

Because their lives are miserable and have treated them harshly and they have had very bad experiences like my self I'm in a very unhappy abusive marriage and find it hard to be positive .
The fact that people cant spell yes it is lack of education my beauty therapy tutor couldn't even write English properly or spell or read and made fatal errors when it came to marking assignments including mine and I had to correct her . But it is also their typing skills may be to blame or there key board isn't working properly or they forget to use the spell checker.
I consider my self to be well educated to higher level than most and my spelling is perfect and let me give you some advice before you criticise others take a look at your self first if you want others to be perfect you have to be perfect yourself .
Never judge a book by its cover there are alot of highly educated people professors doctors lawyers even higher than your self who cant write or spell properly .

There are just as many positive people on here who can't spell either!
Why would anyone ignore lucid comments? A dictionary definition of lucid:-
lu·cid
–adjective
1. easily understood; completely intelligible or comprehensible: a lucid explanation.
2. characterised by clear perception or understanding; rational or sane: a lucid moment in his madness.
3. shining or bright.
4. clear; pellucid; transparent
Therefore, whether they are poorly spelt or not, lucid comments are easily understood.

Yes. It does rather appear that English, in its must non absquatulated form is likely to give the appearance of a most bombastic use. But, given that most subjects abiding in this nation may appear to compromise between this and the other extreme which is oft too vulgar to utter, it can be said that compromise must therefore be applied when engaged in common conversation.

I agree entirely, some can't spell simple words correctly and can't tell the difference between 'than' and 'then', 'lose' and' loose', 'too' and 'to' etc. When you point this out to them they call you pedantic (if they know the word).
If English isn't their mother tongue then at least they have an excuse.
Some are just too lazy to use the spell checker.
Can the thumb down merchant please explain his/her reasoning???
Topshopc is a case in point...she thinks her spelling is 'perfect'....what about...:-
can't....not cant.
myself ...not my self
their keyboard....not there key board
yourself....not your self.
Not 'perfect' by a long chalk but still better than many others on here.

Average age has to be about twelve. They haven't mastered spelling and grammar yet, let alone interpersonal relationships.
Oh man, that comment's gonna earn me some thumbs down.

You might also consider that a lot of us aren't English. How's your French spelling? (just kidding) Though it is true that a lot of people just don't seem to care... I really think it's a shame.
